  1. He said he has a problem with a 2008 ES350. Is this not the ES forum?
  2. My wife bought her 07 ES350 in January and she turns 64 on April 1st. She would kill be for giving out her age. I bought a 07 LS460 last March at the age of 64 so we will be raising the average age. We both love our rides.
  3. My LS460 came with Bridgestone tires. Last fall I bought a set of Michelin Ice (winter driving tires) and what a differance they made in handeling. This week I switched back to the Bridgestones for the summer and back to poor handelling. These tires handle like the tires we had before bias ply or radials. I have never had a problem with Michelin tires so I will be buying the Pilot Sports when the Bridgestones wear out.
  4. Could somebody tell me why the allweather floormats were recalled and redesigned. My wife has a ES350 and the allweather floormats don't cover all of the carpet. Thanks
  5. There is no such thing in my menu. My local dealer told me that they have to reprogram the computer each time I change wheels. This is about a 1/2 hour job.
  6. I have now found out that the LS460 does not have the main/2nd switch. If you have 2 sets of tires mounted on their own rims (8 tires, 8 rims, 8 sensor ID numbers) then when switching from one set to the other the Lexus dealer has to remove one set of pressure sensor ID numbers from the computer and enter the new ID numbers for the other set of tires and wheels. The sensor number for the spare would remain the same. The ES350 has the main/2nd switch.
  7. You have to reset the tire pressure warning system as follows: PS: the tire pressure warning "set" switch is way under the dash to the right of the steering colume. Push the START/STOP button until the vehicle is in the “IG-ON” mode, and then push and hold the Tire Pressure Warning “SET” switch for 3 seconds until the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light blinks 3 times and then turns OFF to set the tire pressure initialization. NOTE: Make sure that the “Tire Pressure Reset Proceeding” appears on the multi-information display. After a few seconds, the display changes to “CHECKING” (which means the tire pressures are being measured). It is necessary for the ignition to be in the “IG-ON” mode a maximum of 5 minutes for initialization to complete correctly. 8. Check that the tire pressures for all 5 tires is displayed on the multi-information display. If the tire pressure values are NOT displayed on the multi-information display, the initialization is NOT complete. NOTE: Check that the tire pressure adjusted in step 6 is displayed. Initialization will be completed if signals are received from all 5 tires. It takes 2 to 3 minutes to display the tire pressure data. Good luck
  8. I have 2 complete sets of tires and rims but only one spare therefore I have 9 sensor ID numbers. The reset button you are refering to resets the system but doesn't switch to the second set of tire pressure warning valve/sensor ID numbers. TSIB PG001-07 makes reference to a switch which does this but I can't find it.
  9. I have that TSIB and it leads me to believe that the switch is already installed. However, Lexus seem to think that it is necessary to keep relocating these things on new models so that we can't find/operate them.
  10. Yes, I checked under the dash. There is a button to recalibrate the tire pressure system and a knob to adjust the volume of the tone you hear when locking the doors but nothing to switch between two sets of tires.
  11. TSIB PG001-07 shows a switch for switching the tire pressure warning system between 2 sets of tires ie:summer tires and winter tires. I cannot find this switch on my 07 LS460. Does anybody know where this switch is located? It is not in the glove box as shown in the TSIB. Thanks.
  12. Let us know how your system works when you are out in the country away from the repeaters in the city. You may find that it cuts out when travelling in certain directions. Mine does.
  13. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba which I believe has a more severe winter than Montana. I drive a 2007 LS460 equipped with Michelin X Ice tires which are the same size as the original equipment tires. I have had no trouble getting around this winter. There is a rocker switch which lets you choose between power, normal or snow. If you use the snow mode it improves the traction by starting in a higher gear. You also have traction control and Vehicle Stability Control to assist you. You should take one for a test drive and get the salesperson to demonstrate how these will help keep the rubber on the road. When I bought my LS460 I bought the Teleios chrome wheels for summer and kept the origional equipment wheels for the winter tires. The Lexus dealers want a lot of money for the tires so I went to Costco for mine. If you want to do the power slide turns you will have to turn off the VSC.
  14. I had a XM receiver installed in my 07 LS460. The dealer installed the antenna on the rear package shelf. It seemed to work fine when close to the City but when I go out to the cottage the signal cuts out but only when I am going north. XM will tell you that this will happen. In the city the XM signal is repeatered from cell towers so you have a signal coming at you from all directions therefore you have a good uninterrupted signal. Lexus Canada really dropped the ball on this one. All the cars should be factory equipped with a shark fin antenna. I want to install XM in my wifes 07 ES350 and am thinking of buying the receiver from XM. They sell the kit for $79. Shure beats the $900 I paid the dealer to install one in my LS460 WHICH CUTS OUT WHEN DRIVING NORTH.
  15. Its not a "chiproof armor" its called Ceramiclear and its simply a harder clearcoat. It really doesn't do much to resist chipping, its designed to resist carwash scratching. Its is nonetheless very cool. If it makes you feel better Delray, I saw a black LS460 with a clear bra today and I had to look twice before I noticed it. I found a company in Boca Raton (Auto Super Shield) that has different options for the clear bra. One covers the entire hood (not just half), the front bumper and mirrors. So, there would be no line to see. It is going to cost a lot more but I think it is worth it. One cool thing that I learned from Auto Super Shield is that it can be taken off down the road. I was told that a lot of people choose to remove it prior to trading their car in. The paint underneath is like new. At least there is an up side to this whole chipping problem. In Canada we call it an invisable bra. I don't know about the other Lexus models but the LS460 comes with it installed. I don't know if it is installed at the factory or by Lexus Canada. It will peel of if you want to remove it so it is not just thicker clearcoat as somebody suggested. My LS460 has it and I wouldn't be without it. A friend of mine bought a BMW M5 and it was factory installed on it. Regards
  16. Better look again....it is significantly smaller. Why would I look again. I own it and it is still cavernous! I have a 2006 Tundra if I need to carry all. The LS460 truck size is perceived differently by each person. I could not be more happy and it held my luggage for two without a problem. Some, maybe need to rethink what they are putting in their suitcase! I have a 2006 LS460. The trunk holds 4 sets of golf clubs so three of my buddies and I can head to the golf course in style and comfort. It is a great car.
  17. Al Lexus produced for the USA may have factory installed XM but in Canada it is a dealer installed option. The option packages are quite different between the two countries.
  18. What I mean by the transducer is the antenna. The LS460's sold in the USA have a fin on the center rear of the roof. Is this the antenna for the XM radio? Yes the sharkfin antenna on the roof is used for the XM and Lexus Link. Is the XM install some sort of factory install or did the dealer install an aftermarket system? A number of things could be causing your issue. First thing the antenna should have an unobstructed view toward the southern sky. Many people have placed their antenna inside the vehicle, but thats generally not the best place. You say that it occurs when heading north. Are you traveling through an urban enviroment or rural. Urban enviroments have ground repeaters if the satellite signal is blocked. Once you leave the city you rely primarily on the satellite signal. Also how far north are you going. XM uses two stationary satellites over the equator so when you head north you're heading away from the source. Here's a rough picture of what the coverage is like... http://www.dogstarradios.com/sirasasecoma.html The XM is a Lexus product but is an option installed by the dealer. The antenna is installed inside the vehicle which is not the best place. This mainly happens in a rural environment but well within the satellite area. I think my dealer took the cheap way out when he installed this $900 option. Knowing that the sharkfin is the antenna for XM will give me some amunition to fight with the dealer for a proper instal.
  19. What I mean by the transducer is the antenna. The LS460's sold in the USA have a fin on the center rear of the roof. Is this the antenna for the XM radio?
  20. My dealer installed the transducer for the satellite radio in the rear window of my LS460. I keep losing the signal, especially when heading north. I believe it is due to the position of the transducer. I am located in Canada. Where do the USA dealers place the transducer?
