  1. So, how did this turn out? Any pictures of where you mounted the button? Also, is this the same kit available at http://l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1441 ← Yes, that's who I got mine from. I just had a chance to see an '05 ES w/ Nav to see where they put the microphone(s). It's built into the plastic bezel that's around the sunglasses holder in the headliner. I'm going to see how much it'll cost me for that part. I don't have any pictures yet because I've been waiting to see what the '05 looked like. Once I get the part price, I'll re-install and try to get some pics up.
  2. According to the Lexus website (http://www.lexus.com/models/warranty_vehic...comparison.html), it looks like you can only purchase the Platinum extended warranty with a new vehical purchase. However, you should be able to purchase the Gold "Extended Service Coverage"
  3. I've used SilverStars on a couple of cars and have never had any problems with them. My current set in my 04 ES has been in for over a year. They are my daytime running lights so they are on all the time. Make sure to not touch the bulb with your bare hand. The oil from your fingers will shorten the lifespan of the bulb.
  4. I got the same letter for my 04 ES 330. I had the DVD replaced last week. The version of the new one is 4.2 I don't recall what version the old one was. I had asked for the old DVD back, but, according to the dealership, this was a "warranty" replacement and they had to send back my old DVD. The new DVD does cover a bunch of areas that had outdated maps before, so I'm satisfied.
  5. That's terrible, I still don't know why they stink at washing cars. Has that happened to you at more than one dealership or just that one you went to Steve? ← I know most of the car dealerships I go to, including my Lexus dealership, have automatic car washes. Those things will scratch the heck out of your paint.
  6. The GPS antenna is attached to your front windshield behind your rear-view mirror. There is no antenna in the back deck or back windshield.
  7. I got the same letter. I'm going to be scheduling my appointment tomorrow. I have an '04 ES330 and I tried the other '04 update that everyone else had and it didn't work. I called to confirm that this update would work in my vehicle since the other one did not and they said that it would.
  8. I wondered that as well. I'm going to call my dealer (again) and let him know that the second 4.1 DVD he sent me failed to load on a NAV system running 3.1 ← Just got off the phone with the local Lexus dealer who has researched the NAV update issue. Your supposition was correct, BTW. The current 4.1 DVD update is only for the generation III Nav systems (pre-2004 vehicles I think). There isn't an update for the generation IV Nav systems as of yet, although they are working on one. Most of the update information in the 4.1 DVD is already present in the gen. IV Nav systems. According to the dealer, this means that the current DVD won't work in 2004 ES, LS or RX vehicles. (That would explain why neither of the copies they sent me loaded!). I guess this will teach me to be "first in line". ← I have an 04 ES and I'm having the same problem. I took it to the dealer this morning and they just called me giving me the same information. :cries:
  9. Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question. But I was wondering how you went about eliminating all of your other rattles? I have several of my own that I would like to take care of. Thanks!
  10. I had a similar problem that only occurred when steering clockwise and it was fairly quiet so it could only be heard at low speeds (<30 MPH). After taking the car in to the dealership 4 times, they finally resolved it. They had replaced several parts before finding the one that actually caused the noise. I don't recall what it was, I'll check my records and post the fix a little later.
  11. I believe that in the RX330 it's in the head-unit. Just press the open button below the NAV screen and you should be able to eject the old DVD and put in the new one.
  12. It was actually very simple. All you have to do is plug it into the back of the head-unit. It only fits in one outlet in the back. I haven't placed the microphone or the button yet. I am waiting for my dealer to get an '05 w/ NAV in so I can see where Lexus put the microphone. As for the button, since it's built into the '05 steering wheel, which would cost a fortune to replace, I will be mounting it to the left of the "reset/mode" buttons on the steering wheel. I don't have pictures yet, but when I finally get this project done I hope to get some posted.
  13. I may be mistaken, but doesn't Lexus use the same steering whell in its other cars? I know for sure I've seen it in at least the current generation RX. Perhaps there's a used one available from an '04 RX. (I know, it's not very likely, but it should be easier to find than a used one from an '05 ES)
  14. Where does the antenna go and what does it look like? Do you have any pictures? Thanks!
  15. The MSRP on the ones I saw were around $35,000. There were some 04 ES's right next to them w/ NAV that were going for about $37,500. The wood trim is of a ligter color, there isn't any additional new trim in the interior.
  16. I stopped by my dealership today on my way to work and I saw the new 2005 ES. There are a quite a few minor changes: -17" Rims, different design. -New front bumper design. -Round Fog Lights. -Projector head-lights. -New rear tail-light design. -New front grille. -Heated & Ventilated seats. -Perferated leather (probably because of above). -New stearing wheel w/ audio controls. -Passenger seat memory. -New wood trim color. I think that's about it. The dealer only had three, all of them configured the same. None of them had the GPS / Nav so I couldn't tell whether anything changed for that, though I doubt it. I like the new front projector head-lights, I'm not too crazy about the tail-lights or the new grille. Although the new fog lights are pretty slick. I may swing back later on and see if I can snap some pics.
  17. I just searched through all of your old posts and I can't seem to find the wiring diagram you're speaking of. Could you re-post it? I would be interested in a backup camera.
  18. It works! I spent a couple of hours and carefully took apart my dash. Hooking up the microphone itself was very easy. I just plugged it into the back of the Nav unit. It worked right away. I took some pictures. I still have to put my dash back together. I'll try and post the pictures and some instructions soon.
  19. The microphone came ina few days ago. I haven't had a chance to install it yet. I think I'll have some time next weekend. I'll post my findings when I get it done.
  20. I ordered one from them a few days ago, it should be here any day now. I'll let you know if it works when it arrives. You did bring up a good point about how to get behind the radio. Has anyone taken apart the 04 dash before?
  21. I was just on a 1,500 mile roadtrip recently. I plotted the entire trip in the nav in the beginning and it worked flawlessly. I had several destinations in at the same time. No issues.
  22. I noticed on my 04 that there are holes in the floor for the floor mat clips but my car never came with clips for the rear floor mats nor do the rear floor mats have holes to accomodate clips. The front floor mats came with clips. Did I get the wrong floor mats or are everyone's floormats like this?
  23. I have a horrendous driving record. I am paying 2,286.50 every 6-months for full coverage w/ Progressive.
