  1. well about the exhaust i have an APEX-i world sport catback system and it's not like those hondas rolling aroung in town (loud and raspy) but it sounds more like an mellow but agressive smooth sound kind of a smoothed out ferarri kind of sound as far as performance you will lose bottom end torque just like with other cat-back systems because they decrease back-pressure which makes torque (until2800~3000rpm) but you will really pick up power in the topend of the rpm range.. and when you're going fast. for example on the interstate going 80mph it feels a whole lot more responsive.... i hope this helps
  2. about the apex-i SAFC-II go to suprastore.com and i think it's under the electronics section under supras ... and don't worry it'll fit on a gs it's not model specific. ps. after it's all done go have fun and suprise some other gs's lol
  3. try replacing your plugs and wires if that doesnt help your coils might be going out in your ignition it sounds like your car is detonating to me and that could spell disaster for your engine take it to the dealership as soon as possible after you tell them about the things above tell them your car might be running too lean they'll understand what that means and correct your computer. if you have any questions my e-mail is toru1234567890@aol.com hope you get it figured out
  4. i've been messing with quite a few gs's but for two grand this setup will be best... an apexi world sport mufler- no popping ar anything like that it sounds mellow and kinda like a supra and you can get it at suprastore.com for $500, and an apexi S-AFCII $400 which corrects your air fuel ratio- pretty much what that addon ecu with the srt intake but you can adjust it to what kind of modifications you have... and to monitor air fuel ratio go with the apexi- turbo timer which has the air fuel ratio guage built onto it $100~150 and keep it around 14.0~14.5 on the readout the higher the number the leaner you are running and too lean and you will detonate (Bad stuff) and a intake from ebay will work you can get it for $40 plus shipping which sounds cheap but you can dial it in with the S-AFC to get like 20~30 extra horses for cheaper!!! and you can install a wet nitrous kit from zex and run like a 50~75 shot all day and all night and it WILL NOT BLOW UP trust me on this one... and you will be able to kill some z28 camaros,350z's and g35's plus you might have some moey left over after somebody works on it this setup is cheap but effective and it works like a dream plus your car will sound good
  5. i've had the same problems with the gs since i got it.... the car's so damn heavy so everything i do seems to have no effect (damn those light hondas... lucky *BLEEP*s) oh well we're rollin with style so that makes it all better. as far as mods i have an intake, exhaust (APEXi World Sport), S-AFCII, and a nitrous system i started out with a 50 shot to see what happens and i recently bumped it up to a 85 shot and it seems to be doing just fine!! if you have any questions reguarding nitrous just ask me. (yeah i was afraid to run nitrous at first but it's not bad stuff like people make it to be... you just have to be careful) in the next month orso i'm getting a engine and tranny swap done withe the twin turbo moter from the supra and adding some other stuff and putting down about 600whp; and found a guy that could hook me up for about $5000 installed!!! that's a good deal considering it's the engine, tranny, and install so look into that too. PS. i know how you feel in the school parking lot with beemers and riced out hondas LOL
  6. hey i have a foglight that i'm not using so e-mail me at toru1234567890@aol.com and just offer a price for it
  7. does anyone know how much power a stock 1998 gs 300 transmission can handle? and what can be done to make it handle more power without breaking to wallet?
  8. at the time none.. but now i have an intake, exhaust, apex-i engine computer, and a 75 shot of nitrous and a black widow body kit which is going to be replaced by a veilside one in the next few weeks
  9. Well i promised some burnout pictures so here they are!!! these are from Nopi Nationals held at Atlanta on september of 2003.. tell me what you all think.
  10. Hey i also wanted to experiment with nitrous on my gs300 and i just ordered a nitrous express kit. does anyone know if i need any engine work before? i'm planning on a 75 shot and i think i can control the air/fuel ratio with my S-AFCII from apex-i. if anyone has any suggestions it would help..... thanx PS. does anyone know the compression ratio on a 2nd generation 1998 gs 300?
  11. Hey i'm new here hi everyone by the way here's a pic of my car that's a black widow kit by the way. i didn't really like it so i ordered a front bumper from veilside and i also got a exhaust and S-AFCII and nitrous this couple days ago i'll post the pics later tell me what you think
  12. For everyday driving the supercharger option is better since a supercharger is powered by the serpentine belt along with your ac water pump, alternater...etc. so a supercharger gets instant boost as soon as you step on the gas. a Turbo works different it gets exhaust gasses and spins the turbine then it gets boost so it requires time for the turbine to "spool up" this is called turbo lag..... the turbo usually spools up around 3000~4500 rpm as far as the reliability problem as long as you don't run too much boost about 6psi you'll be fine. if you ask me the cost effective solution to this is to just do a engine swap with a 2-jzgte (Supra engine) this costs about $4500
  13. mine does it too but it's nothing to worry about it's that kind of burnt rubber kind of smell right? it happens from the clutch burning a little bit. even automatics have clutches.
  14. Hey everyone i'm new here so hello! i guess... i own a 98 white gs300 with a blackwidow bodykit with 18inch rox wheels I saw that you all were talking about GS burnouts so i guess i'll tell you all a story the first burnout was when i went to the Atlanta Moter Speedway for NOPI NATIONALS in september... i won my head to head against a truck with a 454 cuin. engine!!! (THIS SHOWS DISPLACEMENT ISN'T EVERYTHING) YEAH! Lexus quality and i managed to get on NOPI tuner vision and on the SPORT COMPACT CAR MAGAZINE (the burnout madness edition) not on the front cover but what the heck! The second burnout was a tragic one i burned the rubber until they popped (i have a video of this one) after the boom i stepped out of the car only to find out that the steel belting of the tire had ripped off my rear bumper :( well there was so much smoke that the car got covered!!! and there was a pile of rubber about 1 in. high and 2 feet long and a tire mark about 50 feet long... PS. if you want to see the pics send me a reply
