  1. wow this one was dug up.... i know the 1mz with out unplugging the dash, the car would stop at 139mph..did that a few times. never faster.it just wont do it........ but i have severaly slips of 10.3 at 67 mph in the 1/8th.... but she is now sold :( Yours wouldn't go past it? I have never pushed a speedometer of a car past the max. It was definitely past 140. I was going to take a pic on my phone but it was dark. Maybe I'll have to do it again ~;0)
  2. I did 145 just the other day at 3am coming back from Nashville. Wasn't on a decline. The road was completely flat on the section of I-24W. 2000 ES. Nothing special done to it at all. 215/55/16 Potenza RE960 @ 32psi, K&N filter, AMSOIL fluid, KYB Strut mounts and GR2 struts. I do know the different than stock tire size makes the speedometer too fast by ~1mph so it was about 143-144. I thought these things were governed at 139 like toysrme said? The car rode great. The GR2's are a little rougher than OEM but, it definitely helps the handling. I can recommend the Potenza RE960AS's as well. Great tires that will only slip in ice with my ES. I can floor it on a wet road and they won't budge. I can't say the same for a 3000rpm launch ~80)
  3. Hello! I own a 2000 ES300 and it is in need of a detail. I have never used any type of compound, polisher, wax or sealer on the car. There are really fine scratches over the paint of the car that are not noticeable until you get up close. Recently, someone keyed my car and I am not too happy about it. There is also a few light scratches here and there. I need to start with something to try and remove the semi-deep key mark, then the medium scratches then the light ones. There are a few swirl/oxidation marks on the roof. Should I buy a circular polisher? Have you heard of optimum compound or OHC? I need a kit that can remove several different layers of scratches, clean up the paint, seal the clear coat and give me an awesome shine. I am deploying to Iraq month and I would like to get this done before I put it in covered storage under a car cover. It is cold here in Kentucky so its not the best time to detail but, I have to work with what I have. Zaino kit? Any information. I want to designate one good weather day and just get everything done. What about for the tires? I just put some brand new Potenza RE960AS's on it and I'd like to keep them fresh as well. Please help! Thank you!
  4. Then why would they even make one for a 97-01 Camry/ES300?
  5. Just yesterday the shift into 3rd gear became slow and it seems to hesitate. It is quite annoying when driving. On the highway a passenger accidentally bumped the car into neutral while I was accelerating and then put it back into drive while I was still accelerating. Don't know if that would cause anything. Either way I am going to flush the tranny fluid, replace the filter and install an inline filter. Any help?
  6. I am having this same problem. It happened after I changed my struts. I was thinking is was a speed sensor. But, when we had freezing rain the other day and I started my car, let it warm up and started to drive, the lights went off. I shut the car down and started it back up and they popped up again. I am thinking of taking it to a shop with an ABS scanner. Any info.?
  7. Hello, Stock tires for the 2000 ES300 are 205/60/R16....will 215/60/R16's fit on the car? I don't want to use 205/55/R16 because of the added wheel well gap even though it would only be 1/2 an inch. Thanks in advance! BRYAN
  8. Crazy in a good way? It was 700 for 4 struts, 4 strut mounts, installation and an alignment. Strut mounts are almost as much as the struts. You can't really top KYB's for the smooth ride. They are OE on the vehicle.
  9. I went ahead and bought the KYB strut mounts. If I'm going to do it why not do it right. Is there anything else I should consider replacing. I just noticed my ride isn't as smooth as it should be. I bought the car used so I don't know if the struts had been replaced and if they were the factory KYB's or not. I was quoted $150 for strut installation and $50 for an alignment. So my total for all will be $700. Is that a good total price? What would the Lexus Dealer charge? Thanks.
  10. Hello, I just bough 2 sets of KYB GR-2 to put on my 2000 ES300 and a local shop quoted me $475 for installation not including an alignment. I think thats pretty ridiculous. I could see maybe $250 with an alignment. For that price I should just do it myself at the local DIY shop that has all the necessary tools. Just looking for some input. Thanks.
  11. Of the few parts TRD makes for the 00 ES300 it does make a sports thermostat. Would it in any way be beneficial?
  12. Can I just put a better sub in place of the 8" that is back there? It seems as if the amp under the seat is powering the sub only and that is puts out more power than the sub can handle...so I was thinking of putting a JL 8W1v2 in place of the stock sub. It is rated at 100-125w RMS...You would think the stock amp at least puts out that much power. Just a thought. Thanks in advance.
  13. Does anyone know the impedence on the subwoofer in the 2000 es300?
  14. Hello. I am wondering if the Eibach 1in drop springs and the Pirelli Nero M+S 205/55/R16's would look right on my 00' ES. Stock is 205/60/R16 tires. I noticed the the front gap between the tires and wheel well is larger than the back. Could I keep the stock springs on the back and put the Eibach on the front to even out the distances? The gap in the back is already pretty clean.
  15. I don't think its an easy job. I just have the rear engine/transmission mount replaced on my 2000 ES and the mechanic said it was a pain in the !Removed!. Like some of the parts were rusted together and stuck because of the heat. They had like 4 guys working on it. The part was $120 and it ended up being like $185 total. If you know a lot about cars I might try it but my best advice would be just to take it into the shop.
  16. I am connecting it so that it is barely seen and looks clean.
  17. Hello. I just purchased the Soundgate SDSTOYO Aux Input Interface and I need some help in installing it. It says to connect it to a +12v switched source. Would I find one of these behind the radio when I install it? "Install a 2 amp fuseholder in the red pigtail on the SDSTOYO harness and connect to a +12 Volt switched source." Thank you. BRYAN
  18. Recently the ride on my 2000 ES has gotten kinda rough. Definitly not near new. It seems as if it is on front and rear both sides. I can feel every little bump in the road and my tires are at 28psi. The struts seems fine. If I go over larger bumps I hear a "clunk" such as when I ran a curb on accident making a turn. The floaty ride associated with a Lexus isn't present anymore. The car has 86k on it. Could it be the struts? The strut mounts? Stabilizer bushings? Thank you. BRYAN
  19. I know what it is but does it have to be used in conjunction with a dual exhaust? Would a Hi-flow Y do good on an ES300?
  20. Is it possible on a 2000 ES300? Would it take ECU reprogramming? I had a 98' Civic before I got m ES300 so I'm just learning about cars becuase a 105hp 4cyl. isn't worth doing anything to. Just an idea. I don't need to go over 110 (passing purposes) so why not change the gears. Whats the fastest you all have hit in your ES300? Haven't got mine past 130. I'm not intending to race my car because its an ES300 but it just seems like a waste to be able to have the potential to go that fast when its never used. It would also help me from not being tempted to risk getting a crazy expensive ticket and possibly arrested. The car just does 110+ so effortlessly and so smooth its hard to resist putting on the cruise control at 100. Maybe I should just wait till I pick up a Supra or maybe a Lexus LF-A (I wish!) All thoughts welcome. Thanks. BRYAN
  21. Hello, I was wondering how to fix the rich fuel to air ratio on my 2000 ES300. I'm assuming it is running rich because of other posts I have seen online. Less air = Less power correct? Thank you! ~BRYAN~
  22. I would like to replace at least the subwoofer with one more powerful (Kicker 8" or 10") Could I put it in a box and run it off the stock amp? I don't think I should waste a Kicker like that though. I don't want to replace the in dash head unit becuase I think the aftermarket ones ruin the class of a Lexus. Could I just run the output from the head unit into a more powerful amp also mounting it under the seat and put 6 1/2's in the front 6x9 in the back and then the Kicker in the trunk? I am not an audiophile so I don't know much about stereos. I have a 2000 ES300 non Nakamichi. Thank you! ~BRYAN~
  23. Just wanted to give some an idea of what debadging will look like. This is my 2000 debadged with fishing wire, rubbing compound and a cloth.
