  1. Thanks do you guys have any idea how much it would cost to ship a bumper? Anyone know of any parts sources in Texas?
  2. Rear-ended somebody and my front bumper and left headlight are shot. If anyone has one to sell or knows of a good source for one please let me know. I am in Dallas if anyone has one in the area or knows of a source. Thanks
  3. I have a 1995 sc400 and the steering wheel quit going in and out all of a sudden. It tries to go in and out but it seems like it either gets stuck or runs out of the power required to move it. I have already replaced the bushing to align the tilt gear so the steering wheel still does go up and down, it just won't go in and out. Does anyone have a solution? It would be much appreciated.
  4. I just bought a 1995 SC400 and it has quite a bit of rust on the rear brake drums. I spent a lot of time polishing it off, but it came back. Does anyone know of a solution for this? Also I found a used 87 supra tranny, will it work on my car?
  5. Like I said I just purchased a 1995 SC400 in great shape for $4000, I am a poor high school kid and though I just blew most of my savings, but I would still like to boost the performance. I was thinking about a supercharger or turbo. Can someone tell me the difference in performance on the sc400's, price, and the gain I can expect to achieve by installing one. Also are there any other relatively inexpensive mods any of you would recomend? Sorry for the noob question, but I searched and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
  6. I bought a 1995 SC400 with nice new 17inch voxx rims that had the timing belt replaced at 90000. It was in pristine shape inside and out. I took it to a body shop and mechanic and it passed with flying colors. The only problem was the steering wheel tilt, which I fixed for free. I thought I got a steal because I only paid $4000, and since I am only 17 it was nice to be able to be able to pay cash for a great car. It has 150,000 miles on it, but from what I have heard, it should run for a good while. I have only fixed the steering wheel and added silverstars, but I would like to change the torque converter and speedometer cluser.
  7. I have the factory phone as well. I took the phone out, but I still have the wire connection. Does anyone know if there is any way I could just wire a bluetooth fob into the existing handsfree system?
  8. I only buffed the outside and it pretty much fixed it, the inside is not yellowed. I would also like to know how to install new bulbs, I'm thinking silverstars, I don't have the manual so any help would be appreciated. If anyone knows a link like the great one that describes how to fix the steering wheel tilt it would be great if you could pass it on.
  9. I just bought a used 1995 sc400, and the headlight lenses were a little yellowed. I polished and buffed out most of the yellow, so they are clear. However, they do not have the shine that the new ones do. Is there any way to fix this? Also I would like to put the bright white bulbs in (silverstar type) does anyone know the easiest, and cheapest, way to achieve this? Also on one of my headlights, water seeps in between the plastic covering and the glass lens, does anyone know how to keep this from happening. If I need to replace the outer lenses how much does that cost, and where is the cheapest place to get them?
  10. You may have already tried this, but I use a philips tape converter, they sell them at walmart, and it works pretty well. I had my ipod wired auxilary on my 4runner, and the tape sounds about the same.
  11. It seems before I bought mine I saw some like yours going for somewhere in the neighborhood of $5500 depending on the condition. But I only paid 4000 for a pristine 1995 sc400 with 150,000. If you haven't already, post it on www.craigslist.com its a huge free classified site, and you have nothing to lose. They catagorize everything by city so you can deal locally. Its where I found my car, and if nothing else will give you and idea of what they are going for. Hope this helps, David
  12. This is probably one of the most helpful things I have ever seen for my car. I bought a 1995 sc400 a few weeks ago for a mere $4000, and it was in absolutely pristine shape 150,000 except for the steering wheel not working. It was locked in the up position and it just made the grrr noise when I tried to move it. I took it to Sewell and they said it would cost $900usd to fix it and replace the motor. But obviously the motor worked due to the grrr sound, so I figured it was just a stripped gear. I was pretty worried, but fixing it for the 20cents I used to buy a washer made me extremely happy. The garden hose washer works perfectly, and you don't have to worry about it rattling or anything. I'm seventeen and don't know a whole lot about cars and this took me maybe 30min. One note, use a rachet on the three brass colored screws, a philips head stripped one of mine, also there is a third screw located behind the steering wheel, so if the top and bottom don't just snap off that is why. I didn't have any special hook tools, but I used two steak knives and got the gear out without a problem. Thank you so much, I love this site! David
