  1. You need to remove about a dozen small phillips head screws around the inside perimeter. The top comes off and you can re-cover it. Ahh.. THOSE screws...
  2. I had this same problem when i purchased my SC. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ic=4237&hl= give that a go
  3. The stock upholstry on the lid on my center console (between driver and passenger seats) is coming apart quite quickly... i plan to take it into a re-upholstry shop on wednsday but i need to remove it from the car first... i started by unscrewing the 3 large screws towards the base where it connects to the storage area but that didnt work... how would i go about removing this?
  4. 2jz-gte swap would be your best bet, that way you could run with an engine that was made to put out 500+ If your ever looking for a price range... CHECK EBAY! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2JZ-GTE-Ari...sspagenameZWD1V And heres a guide i found for swapping a 2jz-gte into an sc300 http://www.fly-hawaii.com/lexustt/ultimate...s%20sampler.pdf
  5. Within 3 weeks of ownership i have gone to the absolute top speed of the sc300... which, according to the speedometer, was 148. I have also gone 140 in a toyota camry and 135 in an MR2 - Monday morning at around 1 A.M. there is absolutely nobody on the highway
  6. I have purchased a leather steering wheel wrap and a leather ebrake boot from this company and i must say i am VERY satisfied with the product. They will even email you and let you know the exact match for the stock color. I would highly recommend this company for any leather products.
  7. The condensator actually adds horsepower because it acts somewhat like a gas filter and it removes elements that cannot be used as fuel - when i first heard of it i thought it was a gimmick but it really did give me better mileage and a slight increase in power By the way schott thank you for the pictures from your 6-disk mounting job, they really helped
  8. A couple of things you can do for better gas mileage is put in a better air filter and buy something called a condensator ( http://www.condensatorsales.com/ ) With these two additions ive gotten an average of 22/28 on my sc300, which usually gets 18/24 As far as reliability, the vehicle will easily outlast any German or American vehicle on the road - the idea behind lexus is that toyota wanted to create vehicles that could compete with other luxury vehicles in the performance and comfort field and remain as reliable as the rest of the toyota lineup. In this task, they have succeeded - as they have won many awards for being the most reliable vehicles on the road. But when repairs are needed, which doesnt happen all that often, the lexus dealer will rape you for everything your worth. Fortunately however, you can usually take your vehicle to a toyota dealership and they will be able to repair it, or you can get onto a forum (such as this one) and ask about your problem then fix it yourself. So, in the end, the vehicle will last more than 200k miles and you can almost certainly get it repaired with minimal damage to your wallet.
  9. Thats great, from what ive seen in 4 months of browsing ebay and local listings 6500 is a steal, hope it serves you well for years to come
  10. That is an excellent deal... assuming the person you bought it from has given every detail Purchased my SC300 off ebay w/ 120k miles for $5200 (4th ebay car in our family, smooth transaction). Anyway, the guy has been wholesaling for 5 years so i figured hed tell me EVERYTHING beforehand... turns out the car is cherry... except for: Both catalytic converters were gutted - $500 The CD changer was broken (common problem, but it wasnt mentioned) - $200 Power aentenna didnt work - $40 Back tires were almost completely bald (seller CLAIMED there was 65% tread left) - $300 Brake pads are at 0% - $50 Suspension makes popping and scraping noises - $? I find it extremely hard to believe that he didnt notice any of the above mentioned problems... either way, in the end it all turned out ok - cept for the suspension i dunno what the hell is going on there ANYWAY, hope your experience turns out to be better than mine lol
  11. *BLEEP* i am so blonde... i left the dome light on for a week with the car sitting in the garage (i was stitching on a steering wheel wrap) apologies...
  12. Looks excellent... the only thing id do (because im extremely picky) is buy either the 95-96 taillights or the 97-00 taillights, they will add a nice touch http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-00-LEXUS...123145106QQrdZ1
  13. http://www.autoanything.com/air-intakes/61A1915A0A0.aspx aww yeah
  14. Your biggest problem is that youll have to take the vehicle in to have this done... we all know what that means $$$!$$!$ :cries: $$$!$$!$!$
  15. Update... When i try to start the car, it makes a clicking noise... are all of these things listed above symptomatic of a dead battery?
  16. OK, so i just replaced my 12 disk cd changer with the 6-disk ES, after plugging the es changer in everything in the car worked just fine - the cds played and the speakers worked cherry. Today, i decided to mount the changer, so i bolted it on, plugged it in, and tested to make sure the magazine was loading and everything. I went into the car and started it halfway (enough to use the radio) and it didnt register the cd changer... to make things worse, none of the speakers worked - they made no noise at all even at full volume. I though that maybe if i started up the car it might work so i tried that and when i try to start the car it just makes a clicking noise and refuses to start... what have i done!? all i did was mount the goddamned cd changer and now my car wont start...
  17. I have a crack in my coolant tank; if i leave the car overnight i can wake up to a puddle of antifreeze, but i have absolutely no overheating issues... ive even run the car without any coolant in the tank - just what was already in the system and the temp gauge stayed in the mid-low region. I believe my radiator has a very small leak too, but it doesnt affect my temperature... hope this helps
  18. Me and my dad absolutely love vehicles and he makes it all possible for me. For my immediate family, which is me, my brother, my dad and my mom, we have a 94' toyota camry, a 2001 camry, a 91' MR2, a 98' Supercharged T100 pickup, and my 96' SC300 Its almost ridiculous at this point but we all have our specified favorites usually nobody takes someone elses car
  19. Will the 6-disk ES player work with the stock SC Pioneer sound system or just the Nakamichi??
  20. That is one hell of a coincidence... I'm 17 and just purchased an SC300 myself (as a first car). Guess what? i bought it from a wholesaler out of Dallas Texas! anyway, im also very pleased
