  1. I drive a 1999 Lexus ES300. It has 68,800 mi on it. I really don't know anything about when to get inspections. Can anyone tell me when you are supposed to get them? 70k, 90k? I know at 90k I'm supposed to get some kind of big inspection. I do not know what they are called and when to get them. If anyone could write a idiots guide to inspections in a reply I'd be greatly appreciated.
  2. Alright first go to your local autoshop and purchase the 1157ALL bulbs for the front blinker. I drive a 99 ES300 and I had the same thing happen when my front left blinker went out and it would blink rapidly and it got so annoying. I posted in here 3 times about it and no one really had an answer on how to go about doing it. Everyone just says oh ya there is some bolts and the assembly just pops out. Do not take it to a local place because they will charge you 25 bucks to do it. If you get something similar to a flat head screw driver that is bent you can pry it out. You may think you are going to break it but just pry the whole cover out from the outside. I did it and bam there it was. After 3 weeks I solved the problem thanks to a little guidance and inspiration from gone in 60 seconds. Pop your new bulb in and push the whole cover back on and you're in business .If you have any questions email me thehern@hotmail.com or AIM me @: HernGT22 Good luck I feel for ya
  3. Hey all, I've got a 99 ES300 that has 68k miles. I changed the oil once myself, and I'm going to start using synthetic with a K&N Filter, but a friend of mine who says he knows cars doesn't approve of them. Do you guys feel they are better than most? Also I'm not sure how often to get it serviced and where? When would you say would be my next big service and where should I take it to get serviced? Also, my left turn signal in the front is blinking rapidly. I bought replacement bulbs, but after hours of searching cannot find a good explanation on how to replace the head blinker bulb. If anyone has seen a good site on how to do this or has done it themselves I'd greatly appreciate. Thanks
  4. I have a 1999 ES300 and I was curious if anyone has ever changed their head blinker lights? I can't figure out how to do it after spending hours thinking it would be something very easy. I've never done it before so can anyone please help me with like a step by step approach of doing it. I already bought the 1957 ALL bulbs so i'm ready =) Thanks all
  5. You guys are awesome. It took me a good hour and a half to figure out how to get the filter off and to drain my oil. Maybe because I'm weak I dont know. I feel for you guys trying to get that filter off there is like no room for the tools. Well thanks again guys now I can change my oil whenever I want =)
  6. How do you get the filter off...It's rediculous...The darn headers are in the way...
  7. Is the oil screw near the passenger door
  8. I use the premium from costco, bp, and quicktrip only. Costco is only $1.62 which is $0.15 less than the others which is why I use it, and I have no problems. I'm not sure if you have one close to you though, but I get great mileage from there, and I plan on stopping there today to fill up.
  9. What oil brand / type would you recommend for a 1999 Lexus ES300. It's has 67,500 mi, and I would like to put in synthetic, but I do not know if I need a special filter for that or if I can just get a regular filter from Autozone. Help please =) Also is it pretty easy to change the oil on the lexus? On my old pontiac grand am it was a sinch, but I have not looked for the filter and screw to drain the oil yet on my lexus.
  10. I have and the way everything I read explains on how to do it is completely full of it..I am looking for someone who has actual experience at changing a blinker bulb out and how did they go about doing it.
  11. Hello, When I flip the blinker to take a left it begins blinking very rapidly and does not go slow like my normal right blinker. I've determined from questions I've asked that the blinker will be going out soon and that the rapid blinking is a key indicator. Is this true? Next question: How can I gain access to the blinker to change it with the amber bulbs I bought at Autozone. Keep in mind this is the blink on the driver's side. I popped the hood but there seems to be a fuse box in the way and then the huge battery does not leave me any room and it seems like I have to remove both the fuse box and the battery to even begin to change the blinker. Has anyone changed it before or could anyone tell me how to gain access to it so I do not have to take it to a mechanic. Thanks you so much.
  12. I'm located in the Atlanta area. Kennesaw is the city. I'll have to look around for some lexus shops. So it is ok to use synthetic and I won't have to worry about leaks?
  13. I am a new proud owner of a 99' ES300 which runs great. I'm not very familiar with car, and I am approaching 67,500 miles for an oil change in about 500 miles. I know it takes 5w-30 but I was curious if anyone would recommend using the synthetic over the regular because I have a mid high range mileage car. Next, I've donea search for the repair manuals on a 99 ES300 but I have only found a 2000. Is it safe to get a 2000 repair manual or would you wait and find a 99 somewhere? Lastly, I want to do a huge inspection ie: timing belt, etc. of everything at around 80,000 miles what would everyone recommend and where would you go to get it done? Thanks
  14. Hello, I've changed my tail light bulbs out comfortably, but I can not figure out how to change my blinker. My driver's side blinker blinks rapidly so it is either lose or dying. I bought new bulbs for it so I'd like to replace it. I have opened the hood, but it seems a relay and wire box is in the way. Does anyone know how to change out the bulb and get access to it??
  15. Hey I own the same 99 ES300 only mine has 66000 miles...You're supposed to use 5W-30 so I'd recommend using Mobil 1, 5w-30 synthetic. It's about $2.46 per container at your local autozone. There should be a line on your coolant container. You need to fill your container to that line with premixed antifreeze so you dont have to add water. Last about gas. I don't always use premium. I usually use the middle as that is recommended from what I read. Hope that helps, not sure about the cold since I live in Georgia. Good luck.
  16. Hey guys, My father bought me a '99 ES300 for Christmas, which I'm working on getting some pictures uploaded. I had a few questions for you guys. First, I believe the oil it takes is 5W-30 or 10W-30 I do not recall which I read from the manual. I heard it is good to put it on synthetic. What oil would you recommend purchasing for it. I don't recall seeing "synthetic" oil in the local autozone. Is there something special about it? Second, my tail light malfunction light came on, and I was wondering how I can remove the brake light in order to install a new bulb on the back left brake light. Is it correct that when I turn my lights on there should be two light lit on each panel. If someone knows how to easily take it off I'd greatly appreciate it. Third, would anyone recommend getting "angel eyes" for bulbs for head lights. I've seen them on the BMW's didn't know if anyone here had them and enjoyed them better or made the ES look better. Fourth, does anyone know where I can get my hands on a factory repair manual? Finally, let me just say a 99 ES300 can out race a '98 prelude that has a vtec. I beat it by a car and a half. Lexus is pure quality. Just thought I'd throw that in there for the board since I asked awhile back if a ES300 could beat the prelude and I was told no. Thanks guys, look forward to your responses.
  17. I have a 99 es300...I am also in the same situation, and I was told I would need to drive to the dealership where it came from to pay to have it done..They're laser cut..I'm not sure if your local locksmith could do it, but as far as I know I have to go to the dealership..Hope that helps..
  18. I just recently got a 1999 Lexus ES300..If you want I could copy you it..AIM me my screen name is awedaveo..we'll chat
  19. Hello, My name is David, and let me first say what you guys do here is fantastic. I've been reading through the forum for about a week now, and I finally decided to join up. I am getting a 1999 Lexus ES300 within 20 hours from now. It is a major step up from my P.O.S. 94 Grand Am. I got to test drive it, and it is a beautiful piece of machine. It comes with the lexus premium sound 6 disc cd player and all. I had a few questions..I was wondering what recommendations you had for a new lexus owner on how to take care of it, and what modifications I should do. I'm going to put it on 93 octane and I want to put it on synthetic oil. What is a K&B filter? Would you recommend me putting it on it? I'm looking to buy new tires for it because I don't care for the ones that are already on it. I would liek to possibly install a tft cd player in the care maybe eventually. Would you recommend putting a system (amp/subs) in it? Thanks for all your help. Hern
