  1. When do you plan to take off and send your wheel back to them?

I don't know! Chances are that I probably won't. I just want the assurance from American Stitches that they aren't hanging me out to dry if I do decide to ship it back to them. The ES is driven about 500 miles a month, so it's not that big of a deal right now, and it will probably be sold before too long. I just wanted to warn you guys of AS....

That is a shame what happened. I hope that AS tells you that they will fix it. That would be the right thing to do. It would be a shame to pay all that money and then they tell you that they won't fix it.

Let us know what they say.

  2. Well, I got my car back from the shop, the same shop that washed it last time and swirled it all up and had to credit me $140 for my trouble. Well, they'd serviced it 5 times before and hadn't washed it as per my request so I really didnt think they would this time. They wrote a big sign and put it up on the dash.

Well, no wash. But they did back it into something and now the rear bumper has to be repainted. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until I got home and traffic was too bad for me to go back. So I'm getting an estimate at 9 tomorrow and I'll drop it by the dealership then for my check. I'm furious.

I like the service rep, he even went down and parked the car himself to make sure that it wasn't washed, and I don't think he damaged it. It had to have been one of the porters. I've never had a car dealership damage a car, and these guys have done it twice, in a row. I mean, come on. You're servicing $40-70,000 cars you have to be careful with them. I'm not paying $94 an hour for service to have them banging my car into things, I might as well have it serviced at a gas station.

In good news, the moonroof gasket is installed and so is the catalytic converter. A rearview mirror (the source of the rattle I thought was the cowl) is on order and so is the intermediate steering shaft for the steering clunk, but they're never going to service my car again...

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your car. :( I hope that everything works out for you.

  3. 86 watts seems very low, even for a stock system (this is the standard system in the 2002+ ES)

I dunno, seems either like its an underrated system or it might be horrible  :(

But with LExus Qualitly, i'm sure its awesome!!

I know this is sort of a useless topic but im so excited to get my car!!!!!!!!

Hows the sub in the system, any good at all?  How do you compare the stock system (Non ML) to something like a premium sound system in an accord or an ALtima? (my last car was an Altima)

I'm suppose to get my car tomorrow, its not black anymore though :(

Well, its black garnet pearl, with the "Luxury Package" as its known here in Canada.  I hate having to get the car in snow, i hope it clears up for tomorrow

Anyways pictures will be posted as soon as possible!  (Winter Pictures, i'll try my best to make it look good, although it does a pretty good job of that on its own  ;)  )

Black Garnet is beautiful! I think that you will like it a lot. ;)

    I can't wait for the pictures. :)

  4. A lot of Lexus dealers install the Camry spoilers instead of the aftermarket spoilers that steviej and I had installed on our cars. I never liked them(Camry spoilers)  because they looked too clunky. Actually, it was because of steviej's installation that I copied his car, 'cause it looked sooo nice.

I agree with you Alan both yours and steviej's look really nice! :)

  5. Just google Stella Awards-named after that brain dead woman that sued McDonalds for ~3m dollars and won when she spilled coffee on herself. There are tons and tons of these retarded cases. One of the funniest ones that I read was a man that sued Winnebago when he left the wheel of his RV to go make some coffee while it was going down the highway. Appearently, he thought that cruise control was the same things as auto pilot. Lucky for him, his stupidity and the jury's stupidity made him a very wealthy person. What's wrong with these jurys, judges, and people??

I remember that. That was insane. LOL

  6. The Llumar place is 3 1/2 hours away from me :(

By the time I get there, my hood will have more chips missing!

The dealer emailed me a quote of $500 for the 3M product.

    Says the retail is $695.

I haven't called Llumar yet to compare prices.

I will tomorrow as they are closed right now.

This is an added expense that I didn't expect to pay.

It's almost Christmas so the timing sucks!

My Honda Odyssey is a 2005 (red) it has 3,500 miles on it and it has no paint chips, satelitte radio (3 months free), PAX run flat tires, the Navi is better and has alot of toys for less money than this Lexus was.

I wasn't expecting this from a Lexus product.

Up to this point, I'm regretting buying this car!

    Hi! Vicki_in_Florida

At first, you have too many NEGATIVE remarks about LEXUS. Why are you still buying them???

Did you test drive the car or play with the Navigation before you bought it???

Rock will damage any "hood" paint (doesn't matter if it is a LEXUS, HONDA, NISSAN OR A FORD...) If it hits hard enough, it will chip the paint.

I feel your pain....but you don't have to live with it.

You stated that "you are regretting buying this car" right???

    - Well, then why don't you sell it....???

You don't have to be so hard on her she is just upset and venting a little. I know i would be upset if i had the problems that she is having. ;)

    Vicki,

I know that you have to be upset with everything that you been going threw, but i agree with Steve that you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wish you luck because i can see that you are having a very hard time with everything. :(

  7. Thats a part of doing business in this day and age unfortunately.

Yeah, i guess your right no matter what you do there could always be a lawsuit waiting to happen. I just never thought of it happening to a real-estate agent or especially a travel agent for such petty things.

  8. I hate it too, but thats just part of having other people ride in your car. The doors aren't a big deal and they make covers for the door sills lol

Jill- Get this, even TRAVEL AGENTS more and more are taking our errors and omissions insurance because they're being sued, lots of people sued their travel agents because they got sick on cruise ships for instance.

That is insane. I would never even think of that. It's not funny, but it is cause it is so weird. How could you sue someone for something so stupid? I guess some people are just after the money. I could never do that.

  9. Tell me about it! I'm the same way, I do a few cars on the side but I draw the line when it cuts into time I'm working, my weekends, or the time when I want to be detailing my own car. Sometimes its really hard to tell people no, especially when they want me to do their car so bad...

    Steve,

You are the closest to me so i guess i will be there tomorrow. What time is good for you? lol

    j/k

My husband usually does my car and he has been so busy that i am about ready to do it myself. :whistles: The only bad thing about it is that i don't know how to use the buffer thing. lol I'm sure that i could figure it out it is that i don't want to figure it out. :D

  10. its easier to get rid of a car that doesnt leak than one that does.

    good point and good luck.

It just dawned on me, why do you want to buy a new car if you are shipping out in FEB. Will someone at home you trust be driving/using your new car or will it sit while you are away.

Here is an idea, work with Jason on getting your ES250 up to a satisfactory condition. Drive it till Feb and sell it just before your leave or have someone sell it

while your are gone. Save most of your pay while you are on duty and then put a sizable downpayment on a nice new car. The sizable downpayment will help you secure a larger loan.

    Just a thought.

    sj

That's a good thought. I was thinking the same thing.

  11. I never even thought about a real-estate agent getting sued. I don't understand people. <_< Are you saying that they can sue you if they can't get a loan or is it cause of the contract? Oh man this is so weird. I guess there is more to it then i thought.

  12. I felt the same way before Jill.

Fortunatly i never have been a victim that way ,but i prefer paypal since it is 129k nit encription and the LOC doesn not get any of your info just your payment. So everything stay confidential as both parties have no info. It is the only way i pay anything to anyone i don;t have  abuisness relationship with.

But i am sure Matt ,Steveor a local NorthAmerican Managment liek me or SWo3es would accept a mail order and paypal it for you in your name to help.

I did not even see this before sk. If someone can except a money order or something from me and pay it threw paypal in my name then i would do it that way. Can that even be done? Meaning put it in my name with their account. I don't know how that would work. I know that it would take longer that way, but it is well worth it if it can be done. I know that i probably sound crazy, but it is just that i don't want to use our cards on the internet. I trust Matt and LOC and i know that no information ever goes to them i just don't like to do it. It took years to get my husbands name cleared. I just don't fill safe no more. :(

  13. If the mechanic is on flat rate, and if the book calls for 2 hours, then that's what he gets paid, even if he's done in 10 minutes.

Correct. My brother-in-law has a garage and if the book says that it will take him 2 hours to do it then he charges for 2 hours even if he is done way before that. They should have just gave you a price quote instead of telling you that they charge this much by the hour. This way you would have an idea of what you was going to pay before they even started.

As for the IS wheels on your ES i think that it would look great! ;)

btw: We love pictures! :D When you get the chance please post some. I would love to see your car. :)

  14. Just giving an update:

I did finally get my car!

I've had it for a week now.

We got the 2005 ES330 Black Garnet, with the cashmere interior.

Added the spoiler and chrome wheels as well.

    It's very nice.

I must admit that the Mark Levinson doesn't seem to sound as nice as the Nakamichi did on our old LS 400.

The sales guy said they switched to the Mark Levinson because the Nakamichi doesn't have a stereo system that intergrates with the Navi. Bummer!

Also, we have a 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring van.

The navi in the Honda is much easier to use than the Lexus one is.

The car does have a nice smooth ride and so far, we are all happy with it.

    Vicki,

I am very glad that everything finally worked out for you! :)

I agree with Steve great taste in colors! ;)

    I just love that color.
