94 LS 400 cabin air filter don't believe the hype there most certainly is, I replaced mine today. Romve panel under glove box then 2 wing nuts and pull down on filter holder, when it gets close to the floor it bends. New ones come in set of 2 for 50 bucks.. ahh smealls good now!

There's no such thing as a 93 rx300, it's either a 99,00,01,02 or 03. If it has the grey interior, it's either a 99 or 00. FWD should be fine as far as the transmission goes. Are you sure you're talking about an rx300? I double checked here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexus_RX and also confirmed the tenth digit of the VIN is a 3 which means it is a 2003 RX 300. Another thing I found out was it doesn't have NAV or Heated seats as it was origianlly sold in Hollywood Florida... :D

Actually it's white with Tan Leather, they still say it's a 2003, can it possibly be? If I get the VIN will that help? Thanks

Found a 93 2WD with 39k white with grey leather today. I managed to find the original dealer through the vin and verified the 15k and 30k services were done at Lexus. I'm left to assume the oil was changed elsewhere (hopefully). Anything I should know about the 2WD versions, we don't really need AWD and it's saves some bucks on the price and hopefully fuel mileage too.

Trying to decide between a 02' 300 or a 04' 330. Both have about 39k miles but the price difference is about $6k... the 92 has the 3.0 and obviously the 04' the 3.3... I'm not overly concerned about having and "old" card since I still drive my LS400 w/ 190k and don't see myself getting anything else until the wheels fall off. Just looking for quality and value. Any input is greatly appreaciated....

Currently own a 94 LS 400 with 194k and sold on Lexus, thinking about getting the wife a 04' RX 330 and wonder what reall ife gas mileage you folks are getting? I appreciate any other input, I've heard about the tranny issues but really notheing else... thanks in advance..

usually can get in within a week depending on what is needed. As usual with a Lexus it doesn't ever really need much. Give him a call....

I have found a great mechanic just outside Annapolis about 20-30 minutes from DC depending on where your coming from. Annaptown Imports 410-956-0849 speak to Fred and tell him a customer of his Marcus recommended the shop. Very good conciensious mechanic with a big clean shop and really knows his stuff with all foreign cars. I was down the other day to drop of my toyoyta pickup for a new head gasket last week and he was rebuilding a Ferrari motor......

94 ls 400 / 192k 18 mpg on mid grade with no problem...

So I called the dealer this morning and asked about a timing belt service. My LS 400 has 180k on it and the last time the timing belt was changed was at 90k so I'm thinking it 's about time Here is what the second service tech told me, now he is the one they transferred me to afer I asked a specific question. "what is included in the timing belt servic and how oftern should it be done"? Every 60k Timing Belt Seprentine Belt Fluids Oil Filter Rotate Tires Air Filter Cabin Filter $1440 includiung tax When I asked about the tensioners, seals water pump etc.. he said the ylook at them at the time and if needed will include for additonal parts and labor charge. Does this sound right to any of you?

I'm 40 with 2 small kids. I love the space and the car is a dream on the highway but a bit heavy and unresponsive on side roads. I'm going to give it a couple more weeks. Been averaging 18mpg on a car with 187k and tons of features so I'm not complainign , just not sure it's a fit for me??

It's been a month and I can't seem to get used to such a big car. It's great on the highway but thinking it doesn't fit my driving style. I'm totally sold on Lexus and might look for a smaller model. Anyone ever have a similar experience?

I'm getting 18 mpg on my 94 ls w/ 186k using medium grade gas...

so it's raining cats and dogs today As I'm driving it felt as if the tires spun but what really happened I think is a mis-fire. After that the warniing says check engine and TRAC OFF even the switch was still on. I had hoped after getting back and restaring everything would be alright but instead before i shu8t it off I rev it up and bam out go the warnings? Who knows, perhaps some water near the distributor or a sign of things to come. Any comments welcome...

Noticed today that the hood is kind of flopping as I travel down the highway. I thought for a moment that it wasn't latched so I pulled over but it was shut all the way. Anyone know of an adjustment for this. Seems weird? This car with 185k is freakin awesome, I washed it up today and it looks and rides great. I spoke to someone locally who really knows his stuff and he will fix the sunken seat for $125. Now ifg I could just get the heated seat to come on faster and hotter we'd be all set!

When I got my 94 LS a few weeks ago it had been sitting for a couple weeks wiht a dead battery. Once I got it going the TRAC light would come on. Somewhere I read it may need to be reset after a battery failure. The TRAC warning would not come on until driving a bit but always came on. So it snowed here in Maryland yesterday and I blazed out of the parking lot engaging TRAC a number of time with the light flashing each time. Since then and 100 miles later no warnings or solid lights, it may have reset itself. Anyone have an ides whats happened or how the system works? also filled this thing up today and it took 20.5 gallons, any idea how much the tank actually holds?

If they are aluminum rims be sure to use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts or else it's just a guessing game... and the rotors will warp. Hi, when I bough the Lex I actually had warped rotors as well. I bought those Brembo rotors , and they have been performing great ever since I installed them. Just my guess here is that, those Napa rotors you bought are not top quality, so every time they heat up they start warping, also those Brembo brakes you bought on ebay?! Well, they might not be genuine Brembos, unfortunately there is a lot of fake stuff out there on ebay, I have been dooped as well once by someone with great feedbacks. By the way, did you install those 2 screws on the rotors? They serve to center the rotor itself on the hub.

mine does not pull, my guess is you have a bad bearing or a stuck caliper. check the pads for uneven wear and if both wheels spin freely when off the ground... good luck. My rack is leaking fluid and trying to figure out if it need to be replaced or if some other soulution is possible.

So if you've been following my saga I have this 94 LS 400 w/ 180k on it. Belonged to my brother n law who took good care of it. He agreed to sell it to me somewhere between retail and wholesale price which comes to around $4000. I think it's a fair deal. Today I took it to get inspected and they told me int needs the following: Power Steering Rack PS Hose Tie Rod end CV boot is cracked... 1 tire. The PS pump was replaced 8 months ago since it stopped working ans was leaking.... after discussing it with him further today he said he'll take $3000 as is... Anyone ever get a new PS rack? How much was the repair ? Has anyone done it themselves? How much was the part? Any input is appreciated.

Carmax offered $3000, Kelley Blue Book says it's woth $5400. The guys selling it (my brother in -law) says he'll meet me in the middle. I've had the car a week and it drives pretty good, gets 18 mpg and needs a timing belt. I'm assuming everyone thinks I'm getting a fair deal ?

anyone want to guess what they will offer for it? I don't think I'll sell but wondering what the value is 94 LS 400 180k almost perfect condition....

Picked up this LS 400 anniversary in metallic white with 180k from my brother in law yesterday. He stepped up to the 460 which seems to be as close to perfection as a car gets. Anyways there are a few things going on with the car I'd like to get input on. The car runs and rides teriffic has been to the dealer for every service and never abused, it has been garaged since new and looks like new with the exception of a wear spot on one seat and the drivers seat padding is a little worn. 1: Driver seatbelt extended all the way and will not retract? 2: Dashboard is dark when starting in cold and comes on once warm? 3: Gas guage reads empty until 10 minutes after driving and it functions properly (i think)? 4: Heated seats don't seem to warm up but it's been cold and I'll have to test that further soon.. How hot should htey get and how fast? 5: On dash there is what looks like a warning light that says "trac" I turned trac on and off but it stays lit, is this normal or showing some failure? lastly , where can I get some of those clear turn signal lenses so I can ditch the orange ones? Any comments are appreciated, thanks!
