  1. Mission accomplished. With the help of a determined salvage yard/parts guys I found by an internet posting, found several sources for a used nav screens. $1,000 - $1,500 range for the screens with nav (displays without nav are much cheaper). Dealer charged me an hour to install. Happy to have my nav back.
  2. I was having major problems with pinging on my 2001 rx300 right after I bought it (51,000 miles). Did numerous decarbs (by the dealer), checked everything possible, always ran premium gas, fought with lexus customer satisfaction and lost. Bit the bullet and had them replace the knock sensors (both of them). $900 - $1,000, but it actually worked. It's a shame they wouldn't cover it, but I'm glad it's fixed.
  3. Jeff is right. Just had my belts replaced last week (61,000 miles) and the noise is gone. Go for it. Tim
  4. Yep, the Kentlands Lowes. I've been going to Lexus of Rockville since I got it. I'm checking out the salvage yards, we'll see what happens. Thanks again. Amen, brother. Lesson learned. Thanks.
  5. For what it's worth, when my dealer gave me the service history on the car I'd bought, they said they couldn't print it out, so they read it to me and I had to take notes. Odd, but at least I got it.
  6. dealer's saying $3,500+, full replacement system. I'm looking for a system from a body shop in case they get a totaled lexus with most or all of the nav intact. I think I just need the screen or screen cover, as the graphics behind look okay. Other than that, not finding anything else online. bringing lumber home from Lowe's. Stopped short, my co-pilot wasn't holding it secure enough. Very unhappy lexus owner! Thanks for your time.
  7. Has anyone had the misfortune of cracking their nav screen? I have and I'm being told they don't repair them, they only replace the system. If you have any advice, I'll take it. 2001 RX300. Washington, DC area. I'm new to the owners club, so still getting familiar with how posts work. I put this post in the car care forum first. Sorry for the duplication if you're seeing it two places.
  8. Where do you find a new nav screen? My plastic screen/cover is cracked. The actual screen behind appears to work, but the touch doesn't work. Can I replace just the plastic cover? Any info is greatly appreciated.
