  1. Hello all, just joinred, as we bought an '06 GX, White with NAV & ML stereo. 3rd seat, etc..

Wife is the primary driver (25k mi. yr no less), and we are quite excited getting rid of a Infinity FX35.

I am looking for some nice chrome wheels, probably 20" for summer use here in Michigan. If you have any suggestions or pictures, I would really like to see them. I'm not into the spinners, or really skinny spoke style.

    Thanks :D

I got the chromes from the dealer for about $1500 with trade-in. They look nice without being too flashy.

Being in Michigan, as you know, they arent too shiney this time of year. Maybe I'll clean one up for a pic this weekend.

  2. I just tried it (from the sound menu) in my 06 and it did not work!

    Dr. Gee and Statman,

    I have a 2006 GX470 with Nav & RSES.

The hack works for me in park and while in motion.

These are the steps I follow:

    1. Hit the "Menu" button

    2. Press "Volume" icon on the screen

    3. Press top left of screen

    4. Bottom left

    5. Top left

    6. Bottom left

    The service menu screen appears.

    7. Press and hold "Override" until you hear a beep and the text changes from white to black

    8. Press "Back"

    9. Press the "Destination" button to enter desired destination.

As mentioned earlier in the discussion, the override will remain in effect until you turn the car off.

Good luck. Let me know if this works for you.

    Antonio.

thanks! That was it. I was trying in the "sound" screen of the audio section.

  3. We have 2 - 2004 GX470's and to get into the "service mode" you need todo the following.

    Top Left

    Bottom Left

    Top Left

    Bottom Left

    Bottom Right

This is done from the DVD information screen. It has to be done while stopped. After this is completed you can add a destination while moving!!!

I cant get it .I must be retarded.ive tried it everyway suggested. I have version 5.1 btw.does this matter?

    Dr.Gee-

My boss has the same 2006 GX470 as you do. We went to a meeting this Thursday and while he was driving on the highway I did Method 1 on his and override the system. The above method will not work on yours, make sure that you are going into the sound menu and at the corners just press as described in the other post. I hope it works for you because if you look at the 1st post that I put in I was frustrated and ready to give up thinking that this worked on everyone's Lexus but mine. I finally got it to work and I hope you will be able to also. This is the most annoying problem...

thanks.Ive tried every variation on both screens.

Maybe I'm overlooking the obvious. After the input sequence will you go to a new screen or do you have to go manually? Now that you can do it with ease, what were you doing wrong looking back? Ive tried at the very corners(touching plastic as well as sceen) and offset a little. Ive tried slow and fast sequences. brief taps as well as longer ones.

  5. I installed a Thule Evolution 1600 on my 2006 in December and drove from Seattle to Phoenix and back during the holidays. This model has the following: 1. Comes in silver top and black base or all black. 2. 16 sq. ft. capacity. 3. Length goes from front edge of spoiler to back edge of moonroof -- no interference with either. 4. 34 inches wide and you can open it from either side -- accessable from either side when standing on running boards, or stand on the back when barn door is open. You don't need a ladder. 5. Noticeable wind noise but still very, very quiet. 6. Traveled in heavy, heavy rain and heavy, heavy snow and no moisture came inside. 7. Easy to install -- 1 man can do it alone. 8. It looks very nice -- as though it was made for the GX470. Check website: www.thule.com for your local source or online specials. I got mine from REI -- in stock.

Installation advise: At the point where the U-bolts clamp to your roof rack, wrap it with a 2 inch heavy tape. This will prevent any metal to metal sliding. I understand the new models are going to have a rubberized pinch-clamp instead of the U-bolts.

Hope that helps. Reply if you have any questions.

    thanks.

  6. I've been reading the posts and looking into soloutions such as the vaistech mod to hook up an mp3 player. I had a question though about the video/audio inputs below the rear climate controls. When you open up the compartment there are two headphone inputs with volume controls and and rca jacks for video/audio (I have an 05 GX with rear climate and entertainment system.) I remember when buying it at the dealer the salesman explaining how you could hook up a playstation for example to it and connect it here and use the power outlet in the back. I tried testing these inputs by hooking up my mp3 player to the audio in jacks and I can't hear anything. I expected sounds from either the car speakers, DVD headphones or by plugging seperate headphones into the headphone jacks, but don't hear anything. What am I doing wrong and what can these inputs be used for??

    Thanks

good question i would like to know myself

  7. Method 1:

    Get into your sound menu

    press top left

    press bottom left

    press top left

    press bottom left

I am not sure if you have to be in park but on the 2006 this should work! My boss has a 2006 just like yours and it works fine on his. Just touch corners and it will work keep trying...It took me a while to get it to work on mine!

    Good Luck!

Man ive tried like 50 times.no luck. tried it fast, slow,in park, blah, blah.

  8. Has anyone ordered from CostalTech lately for a 2006 GX470?

I sent an email, unanswered now for a week and they don't answer the phone, and hesitate to order the NAV kit listed for the 2005 focus without confirmation it will work with my 2006 GX470 with BlueTooth.

Should I just order this and hope for the best???

I'm really tired of pressing that dumb agree button and doing the override.

    Regards,

    TurboJones

You would think they would get their act together and expand as there seems to be quite a demand.
