  1. Just was checking if anyone had a nakamichi amp from a 92-96 SC lying around, I will pay you top dollar for it, mine blew and I need music!!! Dont really feel like buying a new one from lexus. Thank you! P.S. I know this is supposed to be in the classified section, but not everyone looks there. Thank you!!!!
  2. I had this exact same problem with my 92 Sc400, with 99k on it. Turned out for me, it was both my front O2 sensors (which are a !Removed!, to get to). I attempted to change them myself, (and I had a lift, which made it 100x easier) and quickly stripped them both out in the process of removing them. I did this after soaking them in wd-40, and I am a farily competant auto mechanic, I like to think. I eventually had to pay one of my buddys that is a Lexus technitian, to come re-thread them for me (which I probably could have done on my own, but I had already botched the job enough I figured). Parts cost is about $140 per O2 sensor. As far as the Traction control light, it will always be on whenever the check engine light is on, and the traction control will not work. If you want to reset these lights simply unplug the battery for 30-40 minutes, and the lights will probably stay off for a day or two. So, if I had it to do over again, I wold have just taken it to Lexus, and not had to worry about it. I wasnt the easiest job Id ever done, although it didnt sound to tough to begin with. Good Luck! :D
  3. You could buy one of those retrofit kits, which have 9006 bulb adapters, because the HID bulbs wont fit the sockets on the sc400 lenses. I did an HID conversion my car, and I kind of did it the ghetto way, I just filed down the plastic surround on the HID bulbs to fit, and epoxy'd them in. but after doing that, it looked HORRIBLE. the projectors in our car have some WEIRD stuff going on in there. So I had to take apart the projectors and remove some of the blocking plates. It looks GREAT now, but If I was going to do it over, I would get some real HID projectors, say out of a bmw or audi or something, and use them in place of the sc400 projectors. Just figured id give you a heads up on my experiences doing the HID upgrade on our cars. It looks great now, but it sucked before modifying the stock projectors. Good luck.
  4. I had my Check Engine Light come on lately, and I took the car to a freind with an OBDII reader. Well, he didnt have the proper connecto, but the engine light flashed the trouble code, once he plugged the tap into my car. It flashed two times, than five times, which I assume to be code 25. Does anyone have an idea what this code means?? I was told it was "air/fuel mixture error" the mechanic with the ODBII told me it was probably caused by the conical filter I replaced the oem airbox with. But I dont think that is it, If anyone else has had this problem how did you fix it? Or could my mechanic be right?(I dont doubt him, but I do question him :) )Thanks for the help.
  5. I too are going to do brakes next, and I was wanting some cross-drilled rotors since they look so much cooler, and since ive had good luck with them in the past. Problem is, the only ones I can seem to find are those ones on ebay, and im not sure I trust them. Anyone know of a good place to get quality cross-drilled rotors for our cars?
  6. 99% chance your "window regulator" is broken, based on your description. Basically, the the plastic peice that connects the glass to the slide track that the window slides on is probably broken, or something releated to that track anyway. Those tracks are sold as complete parts, last one I changed on a 00' bmw cost $75. I change those thiings out constantly. VERY stright forward fix, if you are comfortable removing your door panels, you can probably tackle that job on your own. I would remove the door panel, and check it out in there, should be fairly apparent what the problem is by toying with the window switch. Then after identifying the part head up to your lexus dealer, and get the part. Its most likely somethign they keep in stock, plus then you dont guess, and get the wrong part. Good luck.
  7. What wheels drive the speedometer, the front or the rear? Im getting new rims, and no reason to worry about circumfrence on the set not used by the speedo. Im gussing rear, based on doing doughnut's in my 4-runner ;) , but just wanted to be sure, thanks.
  8. On my mirror it operates normally when cold, but when it gets hot, it will "creep" to night, one side at a time. Like half of it will be day, and half night. The hotter it gets the larger percentage is night. If I hit the button, the portion that is day will operate normally, but the other half is stuck in night, until it cools down. Does anyone else have this problem? because I considered buying a used mirror off ebay, but figured they all had this problem, or is it just me? Thanks.
  9. Nothing compares to a valentine one if you ask me, it has saved me too many times to count, and it doesnt drive me crazy driving around town. It hardly EVER false alrams, It is $400 though, but you get what you pay for.
  10. How large was the difference in braking once you added the supra front brakes?? did you also use the master cylinder?? also, did you notice any ride difference(as far as confort) after you installed those 18's ??? thanks as always AWJ. P.S. You GOT to see my new lights AWJ, I just bought some HID bulbs and ballasts off a 03 lexus sc430 off ebay, and fitted them in my sc projectors, man they RULE! They are SOO bright, you got to see it. :)
  11. That setup is sick man, just SICK! ;) What kind of wheels are those again? Im about to buy some and I might have to sweat your style. You gonna grind off that "supra" on those brakes? or leave it like that? Damn those rotors look sweet behind those wheels! I agree with SportCoupe300, you suck man :) I was looking at these, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2426183449 or possibly some enkei's that look similar to yours, I need chrome though, I cant decide. what do you guys think? This pic here is what got me looking at those ADR's man that car looks sweet. http://www.clearcorners.com/products/lexus...s/featcarB5.jpg Do you have a pic of your car from the side with the wheels on it?
  12. I just did a tuneup on my 92 Sc400, and the wires were the original ones. I dont think it ran any better, but im sure it needed it. The wires are dated, (which I find amazingly cool) so if they are dated the year if your car, your car has "probably" never had a tuneup. Id say every 50,000, but im just pulling that number out of thin air.
  13. For my 93 Sc400, it was part #55902-24010, and I too had to special order it. I was quoted $500, but luckily for me I have a freind who has a Toyota parts account through their business, so I got it for a little less than that. Maybe you can find someone with a parts account, that could purchase the part for you with their discount. OR, the guy at the parts counter mentioned to me that there is a guy out of California who refurbishes them for $300, with a $50 core charge. Unfortunately though this guy only deals with dealerships. Possibly you could mention that at the dealership and they might know of the guy. Good luck.
  14. Well.... It WASNT the climate control unit. So I guess I just spent $500 to fix that dead bulb I had in there. Looks like im off to visit my freindly Lexus technition. Ill save you the time and money, kevinph99, and let you know what the problem was. EDIT: YES!!! Spoke too soon, I forgot to plug the Volume/AC Control knobs back in. Once I did that everything worked fine, including the clock!! :)
  15. I just went and quadruple checked my fuses, none are bad. I also whipped up myself a nice little ground cable going from negative battery terminal, to engine block, to chassis. No dice there either. My climate control unit should be here Wednesday morning, so I guess im going to put my faith in that, unless you guys come up with anything different. Thanks for the help.
  16. I have the EXACT same problem! My climate control just went dead, the backlight is still on, but none of the controls work, nor is any info displayed. I ordered a new climate control unit today (list $500!! Ouch!!) I thought the clock thing was just a weird coincidence that it went out too. The time is displayed, but you can’t change the time. Going to suck if that isn’t the problem, a bad ground DOES sound like what it might be, because my built in radar detector has been making some never before heard beep patterns as well. Let me know what happens, and ill do the same, good luck!
  17. lol! Rocking the block?? Is that like kicking the tires when you by a new car? You must be joking.
  18. I didnt notice any difference at all after changing all those parts, but maybe you will notice one, who knows. 2 caps and 2 rotors, You will probably want to read up before you do this, if youve never even changed a set of plugs before.
  19. While your car may not "need" them, it’s something that can only help, if you feel like changing them. The nice thing about Toyota wires (which I didn’t know until recently) is that the production date is printed on the wire! Look on the wires and they will have a production year, my old ones were dated 1992, and my new set was dated 2003. I just changed the wires, caps& rotors, and plugs on my car yesterday. Took about 4 hours, prices were as follows. Toyota Distributor Caps & Rotors -- $50 Toyota Wires -- $117 Denso Iridium Plugs -- $80 eBay :) I have a Toyota parts account, so retail the prices may be slightly more. Good luck!
  20. All I want is a set of nice set of freaking shorty headers, Im AMAZED, no one makes these, what a shame. :(
  21. My 93 sc400 with 92k cost me $7500, Id look around for a better deal if it were me.
  22. I had the same problem, and I fixed mine without opening it up. I removed the lamp, took out all the bulbs, to allow for as much air passage as possible. Also be sure to remove the round rubber bezel around the main headlamp(it twists off). Then I let it sit out in the sun for a few hours upside down, and all the moisture went away. Put it back in, and its been fine for close to a week now. Good Luck.
  23. Exhaust is my next move, and my plan was to scrap everything from the front cats back, ( I hear they actually flow pretty well, so ill let the stock cats live for now), and have an Xpipe at the junction where they connect into one pipe on the stock exhaust (why the hell they do that?!?!?!). Then just piping all the way out to 2 can mufflers at the end. How loud would something like that be? could anyone suggest a type of muffler with good flow, that wont be deafening loud, but still have good tone? Thanks for all the advice guys.
