It is very easy, using a screwdriver, please put tape the screwdriver before to avoid damages to the plastic. It goes out easily.

You need to get out the battery inside the nav ecu. But I believe that you have a bigger problem than that. Did you tocuh anything from the hides menus? There a re a lot of topics about this issue. Once the CPU is damaged, only the gen 5 (I believe) can be reset.

Listening To Ipod Through Cd Changer For '00 Rx300
fernandolpa replied to aahn's topic in 99 - 03 Lexus RX300
Honestly, the best is to get the vaistech or lexus adpator. You keep the Cd's and use the Ipod with radio controls. I installed a couple of years ago and works nice. -
I live in Canary Islands, Spain. I have a 2001 AWD RX300, 63K miles. ZERO problems, even when I drive FAST reaching top speed several times and driving always on highway at 90-100 mph. I also drive offroad oftenly and the car is simply perfect. Maybe is beacuse mine is made in Japan, I don't know. Dealer borrow me a new RX350 for three weeks, and sincerely, I keep mine until its dies. Simple. I also have a MB A class 160 auto. Great car, 66k miles, no problems at all either. Great cars.

No way to solved it. I have the AWD and in Europe parking lots are not as big as in the US, so imagine. I need always to do two or three movements where I drive over with my little MB A class. Anyway, it is the only black spot of the car. I tried for three weeks the new model, and I prefer the 2001.

My Nav Cpu Does Not Read Dvd
fernandolpa replied to fernandolpa's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
I use a navtool video adapter box for the video inputs, and a vaistech Ipod adapter for the Ipod. I agree 100% with you when speaking about navigation computers. I´ve been driving a RX350 and a RH400h for a couple of weeks each and the navigation is from another planet. In my island we are plently of tunnels, and never lost the signal. Even more, when driving off maps (off road), you can make the system to memorize the way. -
My Nav Cpu Does Not Read Dvd
fernandolpa replied to fernandolpa's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
Here you have a couple of pictures of my baby and rear view camera. I can switch now among these two and Ipod video on my screen. The navigation does not work, but who cares living on an Island? -
My Nav Cpu Does Not Read Dvd
fernandolpa replied to fernandolpa's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
Thanks very much for your explanation. I bought the CPU used and I am sure that has the problems you mention. Anyway I need the CPU to make the screen works for video purposes and for that it works. Now I have installed a baby camera (for the rear seats) and a rear view camera, as well as a video input. So I am happy. If I need a GPS in the future, I will go for a TomoTom or similar. Cheaper than a lexus one. -
My Nav Cpu Does Not Read Dvd
fernandolpa replied to fernandolpa's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
I also suffered same problem while I insert the Taiwan version DVD map disk to my US EMV. It seems like the Navi ECU or EMV issue, however the solution is not available yet. Where did your EMV come from ?? Map DVD not match the EMV ?? My CPU is a DENSO one, from US, and I tried inserting Europe map and USA map. Same result. I will insert pictures later. -
I bought a second hand NAV cpu and installed in my RX300 2001. My car does not have the NAV from factory, even when it has the screen, buttoms etc. I had to built my own harness and make te connections. Now I have everything installed together with a rear view camera, Vais iPod adapter and video input for the nav screen. The CPU looks like it works, going to diagnstics everything looks well, and the GPS readings are working well. Speed, position, everything goes well. The prblem comes when the CPU, after choosing the language for the nav, the cpu gives me the message of "Cannot read DVD. Pls check DVD is correct". I tried several discs with to results, european and american. What could be happening? Any ideas? How to solve this problem? Thanks for your help,

First, I would disable the VSC/Trac system by disconnecting and then reconnecting the MAF/IAT sensor. Disconnect with the engine idling, the engine will die, reconnect and restart. The VSC/Trac system will then be disabled for the next few drive cycles. Assuming your's is actually an RX300, not a 330 or 350, you have a VC, Viscous Coupling, across the center diff'l that will tighten the coupling coefficient between front and rear drive but only after a few seconds of desparate F/R wheelspin/slip. The only disadvantage of the above is the loss of the "virtual" rear LSD, assuming that firmware actually exists in the RX300. Mine is an '01 AWD RX300 and I fully expect the trnasaxle to fail prior to 100,000 miles. At that point I will DIY the overhaul, remove/toss the the center diff'l front drive side/spider gear and weld the rear drive side/spider gear in place. I will then have a SOLID drive coupling to the rear and a "soft", VC, coupling to the front. It would be nice if I could find a quicker reacting VC but that's likely beyond my reach. Florida and yet the RX picture is of one from "off-shore"...?? Actualy I am from Spain, living in Canary Islands. I open my log as from Miami beacuse I travel there oftenly. Of course picture is not from FL, is from Canary Islands. I have more on ud and over the mountains here, but is an island, so there is much roads for off roading. I am very close to Africa, 60 miles, but I don't think that the RX is the appropiatte machine for desert roads or sand. I've been roading there in a Montero, from Dakar to Banjul (Gambia). Driving a Lexus in Africa is like a stupid searching for troubles. My RX is also a AWD RX300 european version, made in Japan. Nobody knows here what kind of trans I have, if I have central and rear limited skip diff or only the trac control by braking the wheels. Beive it or not, thats why I enter the US forum. Now I know more from my car than Lexus dealer. Have in mind that they sold 10 units total from 2000 up the new model... Do you think that playing with the MAF/IAT can cause future problem on trans or engine managing? And just to finish, the trans problems occurs in all RX? Thanks and best regards from SPAIN

From time to time I go offroad with my RX. Not very heavy stuff but some times I hit mud and sand, and I would like to lock the central diff for better traction. Actually the VSC and the traction control stops too much the car when you need some speed and power (climbing a sand hill or diriving by mud). I have a video on youtube under rx300. Ok my brother in law is not the beast camara holding man... Also when I left on rear wheel on air, the ETC makes a lot of noise and wheel still spins...until you use the parking brake to stop it, then traction comes back and moves the car much better. Any ideas wellcome! ...except of course like "buy a land cruiser" or something similar. I really love my RX even whit the speed limiter at 110 mph...but that one is a different history.

Here is the info about the compressors. I do not know if anybody sell this in the US. In case that anybody is interested in buying the kit, I can do it directly in Europe. I have office in Miami and I am sending containers there every month, so we could arrange the shipment. Also air freight is possible at very good prices. Price for the compressor is around 9,100 USD. If you want to gain horse power, and increase your top speed +120 MPH, then the only way is TTE. www.tte.de or this direct link http://www.tte.de/popup/tp_engine_tuning.htm LEXUS RX 300 XU1 COMPRESSOR KIT RX 300 XU1 Power increase from 201 PS up to 248 PS Torque improvement from 283 Nm @ 4400 min-1 to 328 Nm @ 3300 min-1 AM 26236 Please refer to separate brochure.

Hey, those chips do nothing, maybe +10 BHP at hig revs with an increase of 10-20% in consumption. For turbo cars, is another history, as you can increase the pressure, but in atmospheric cars, do NOTHING, is a waste of money. Same with the airflow filters, maybe +10% ONLY at 5000RPM and above... My navigation system has lost the GPS signal. Now I have a red dash crossing the GPS signal on the screen and everything is white. Rest of nav menus are working properly except the one to change the country. I had run the diagnostic menus and everything looks fine. Antenna is also ok, and tested. I tried to change the GPS receptor module from the CPU but the $%&/&%% is solded, not like the OEM part that I bought, which has a connector (DENSO). My CPU is an AISIN. Any ideas besides going to Lexus dealer? They only tell me to replace the unit (Actually they looooove money). Sorry but replacing the unit is not in my list...I live in an Island and GS is not necessary at all, but I would like to have it operational again.

What a pity to have the speed limit -
Maybe I am the only crazy guy that take out the road the RX. It is incredible what the car can do and from where it climbs, even with road tyres. But I am facing a problem, the traction control stops suddenly the car when the tyres stars to spin, and this is very unconvenient when driving ooutside the road. Any way to disconeect the system just for out road driving?

I'll try to explain you how. English is not my first language, sorry for the possible mistakes. Its really easy. This is how you have to do to take out the central console. Open the console and strip off the top, where the cup holders are. Start from the front side. On the floor of the console, at the front and sides, you have to screw taps, remove it and take out the screws. Also, n the floor you find a cover, open it and remove the screws. Going back to the back of the console, once you have removed the cup holders top, you will see two screws. Remove them. The console is now free. Be carfeful with the lighter connector, disconnect to release completely the console. Do the same with other lights connections. In order to take it our completely, you have to move the seats to the front. To reallocate the console, proceed on the inverse. If you have problems with my explanation, tell me and I'll post the official guide from the repair manual.
