  1. Just picked up my RX300 this morning after a 90K service (albeit a little late at 140,000 miles) at LXT and the car drives like a dream for hundreds less than what Lexus of Rockville and Silver Spring were quoting me. Nelson really knows his stuff and he's honest about what needs to be done soon and what can be put off later or completely ignored. He really knows how to treat a customer well and the fact that he's so close to where I live means I'll definitely be back in the future.
  2. Just wondering if anyone has ever successfully tinted the front windows so that they match the unique kind of green tinting that comes standard with the back and rear-side windows of the car? If anyone has any pics or can tell me what kind of tinting that's called so I can ask around at the shops that will be really helpful. I went to 1-2 tinting "specialists" who just try to sell 1 or two shades of normal black tinting that I think will just look weird on the car. Thanks for the help!
  3. thanks a whole bunch. i'll definetely check this out. looks a little complicated, but the instructions look really great. thanks again
  4. This topic has probably been covered numerous times here, but i heard that on some cars you can sacrifice your CD changer and use that port for your iPod. Does anyone know if and how this is accomplished with a '00 RX300 any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  5. haven't posted in some time, mostly because my cars have been running fairly smooth, but i recently went on a drive in the west Virginia mountains, up and down and such and on the way home realized my gear lever stuck in park. it takes considerable strength and effort to put into reverse. the problem subsided for a while and now its back. i definetely need both hands to get the car out of park. can anyone help me with this? thanks! it is a 2000 rx300 btw
  6. LOL. Yes third world refugees. No I'm 23 and my friends, while most of them have professional jobs, are still very much in a college kid frame of mind.
  7. I haven't posted in a while because it's been a while since my '00 RX HASN'T been giving me a headache, and I have to thank this forum because it's given me quite an education I wouldn't have procured otherwise, but I'm going to share a story about events in my beloved SC. First of all, I'm in LOVE with my SC430. I've had absolutely no problems with the car, and when I'm alone I feel as though the car is an extension of my body, and that we are a single entity floating at high speeds. The only problem I have with it though is with my IDIOT friends. I apoligize in advance if I sound like a pompous !Removed!, but I believe that passengers, when stepping into a vehicle such as an SC430 ('03 which I keep immaculate at all times), should KNOW that they are not riding in any ordinary vehicle. My RX you can set on fire, and I'll pay you to do it, but for passengers who have ridden in my car, it should immed- etely click with them to excercise discretion. Unfortunately that has not always been the case, and countless are the times where I've found bizarre oddities wedged in the nooks and crannies of my vehicle, and countless are the times that I've cleaned greasy finger prints off the controls, glass, and paint of my vehicle. Maybe I'm too pressed about my car, but it is my belief that passeng- ers to such a high calibre vehicle should know that the it is NOT okay to treat my car like a waste basket, it is NOT okay to eat or smoke without asking first, and most importantly, the NAV is NOT a toy!!! I know to many I sound crazy and obsessed. Has anyone else had problems like these?
  8. HI, Yes I'm actually wondering that myself. My '03 SC is equipped with nav but my RX is not. Don't want to spend a fortune becuase I just spent a small fortune (long ago) getting the Pioneer AVIC-N1, which is suppose to be in-dash but have no idea what to do with it and it's sitting in the box collecting dust in my office ???.
  9. Hey, I've been reading this thread with interest as a collector of mechanical watches and the fact that my brother is one of the few people on EARTH who actually owns the Infiniti Q45 (2005). All I can say is that car is just very very wierd. The only neat thing about it is the gatling gun headlights, other than that it just seems really outdated. (the clock doesn't even point the driver...) As for the LS460 or the S550, the LS460 has my vote. I'm happy with my '03 SC430 at the moment and am a little too young to think about big luxury sedans, but if Lexus can make an EIGHT speed transmission, and make a 4.6 litre V8 qualify as an ultra low emission vehicle (ULEV), they have definetely topped the field.
  10. Hey I also have a question about HID conversion. Is it possible to use the OEM philips d2s bulb for projector housing for the reflector housing in the '99 or '00 RX? I think that the reflector housing for '01, '02, etc. is designed for the d2r bulb and the '99, '00 is designed for the 9006 halogen... I currently have Hella ballasts with some cheapo bulb (9006) that emits too much blue and too little light. Thanks!
  11. HI, The philips 4100 d2s and d2r bulb is OEM in 99% of all the cars equipped with xenon. They are pretty much the brightest and whitest. The 6000K is bluer but less bright. Nissan lights and lexus lights, every major car manu facturer uses the philips bulbs but many use different types of ballasts and projectors which is why they seem to be different colors.
  12. Are you talking about the MAF Sensor Chances are that if you are, then it just needs to be cleaned with a polyprophyl alcohol electronics cleaner.
  13. Hey, Thanks for the input Not much of a car guy, but will putitng in this shell v-power whatever which boasts, 5 times more detergents to clean your engine, etc. etc Can putting in this gas forego the need to put in a seperate fuel cleaner product in the tank every so often? I hvaen't once put in fuel cleaner in either the SC or RX Thanks!
  14. I have never seen my rx300's instruction manual and have been putting premium 93 shell v-power in it. I put the same kind in my SC430, and i guess assumed that it would be right. I get warnings about fuel richness. Once i cleaned the MAF sensor it took care of that, but maybe the fuel grade was a contributing factor. so long story short: what kind of gas do i put in the 00 rx300?
  15. no, just a general check engine light comes on and you use a diagnostic tool to determine what the codes are and what triggers the light. i get mine's lent out for free at an advance auto parts. an update: i cleaned the MAF sensor, the wires were filthy btw with a non-alcoholic electronics cleaner and the light went away. I think the response improved as well. i'll check the evap too thanks for the tip
