  1. sorry, can help about the exhaust and this tiny bit of advice is a no brainer, but Ill just say it incase for some odd reason it was never thought of before. Call lexus, ask them how much the total is for new engine/tranny mounts, and was the labor will be. Good Luck. oh ya, ever look into JIC? Junction Produce? Tom's? Blitz? C-one? Fabulous? http://www.l-tunedparts.com/model/struct.p..._id=8&cat_id=10 There's more out there, just gotta be patient.
  2. take the whole headlight housing off the car. Bake them in the oven until the glue (or whatever the technical name is) is soft enough to pull the lense off. Clean the inside. Bake them again to soften up the glue. Put back together and add some silicone to make sure no moisture gets back in. I dont know details of the process because I havent done it yet, but if you go to Honda-tech.com, you'll find plenty of write ups on how to do it correctly. Don't think just because it's a honda-forum, that it's a bunch of ricers that dont know what they're doing. That is probably one of the best honda forums on the web right now. Plenty of credible mechanics/info on that forum. Dont be scared, follow the steps given and it should come out just fine. Just came to mind.....search for a FAQ about detailing thread in the appearance/cosmetic section, SHOULD be covered in there. If not, I know there are multiple write ups on that forum.
  3. if you decide to buy sideskirts, DEFFINATELY get something for the front at least, if not the rear as well. IMO, it just looks funny if the middle of the car hangs lower then the front and rear. Do you have a gen 1 or 2?
  4. A member from club lexus said it had to be set up with a multimeter and a feeler guage. Any info about that? Also, if my TPS was shot, wouldnt my idle be completely off? The car seem 100% normal when I was taking it to Lexus.
  5. I had my car taken into Lexus yesterday for an engine diagnosis, well today I got a hold one of the service reps and he informed me that I had a shot throttle position sensor. Unfortunately Im 18 and dont make enough to just shell out the money for Lexus to do their ''magic'', nor will my parents help me out, so I would like to replace it myself. I have general knowledge and how to on Supra motors (previously owned a 7M-GE MKiii Supra) and my neighbor is a lead technician at Lexus. My question is, with your average tool set and professional help, is this something I could do succesfully in my driveway, or does it require any special tools or measuring that I should let Lexus handle? If anyone has ANYTHING helpful to add, please do so. I would just ask my neighbor who is the mechanic, but unfortunately he is as work (cant get a hold of him until after 5:30) and Lexus gave me until 5:30 to let them know what I'm going to do with the car. Thanks.
  6. oooooh :chairshot: on me. I though it meant for all pre 97 cars except for all cars made in 94 and ES 300's. I didn't even think it meant all pre 97 cars except for 94+ ES 300's. Been a loooonnnnggggg day. Thanks
  7. "here is a list of all the codes for the obd 2 compliant cars a industry standard from 97 and up a lexus standard since 94 on the ES 300 1mz-fe engine" I drive a 94 GS300, obviously doesnt fit into the 97+ category, nor in the 94 ES 300 1mz-fe category. Am I misreading something or will these codes not work for my car. "These are OBD codes for pre 97 cars except 94 and newer ES 300" Again, I own a 94. It says those are the codes for pre 97 EXCEPT 94 and newer ES 300. Is any of that info useful to me or apply to my car? Im sorry if I sound unappreciative, believe me, I AMAZED I got a response in the first day, I just dont understand how any of that applies to my car. It looks like it singles out 94's and ES 300's.
  8. Well I have another thread about my TRAC & Check Engine light coming on in my 1994 GS300 and I was going to run a Diagnosis test on it today via a computer from my step brother work (jiffy lube), but when he finally got here he said it wouldnt work because his computer has a rectangular plug vs. the circular one on the GS's. I am a noob and therefore dont really know what information Im looking for. I ran a search but didn't find anything helpfull. I used to own a MK3 Supra and one day I had a friend help me check and set my timing. One of the steps he did was taking a paper clip and looping 2 pins together in the diagnosis port. My step brother was telling me you can also get codes this way. By putting the ends of a paper clip in different ports and watching how many times the check engine light flashes. Any help please!!! Ive noticed this site usually takes a while before someone even responds with any relative help at all but I'm desperate to get my car running good again and dont have enough money to just take it to the dealership yet and let them have their fun with it and rack up every penny they can get, so PLEASE can I get any usefull help ASAP. TIA. None of the 9 viewers have nothing to add? Cmon PLEASE PEOPLE. You have no clue how F*ing stressed I am right now. Im 18, im doing what I can to make what I can but I have the *BLEEP*iest luck imaginable. I need help PLEASE HELP. ^^ haha that bleep thing is funny though ^^
  9. Need more info. Has there been anything out of the norm happening to it recently. Have you driven it hard or experience any abnormal driving conditions. Was there a pattern of when the car would die. Try to make it so we feel like we're the ones driving the car. Be descriptive.
  10. 130 on I-405 at about 2 AM on a weekend. In my old MK3 Supra. JDM engine, K&N intake, greddy muffler/custom piping, after a tune up (NGK plugs, plug wires, cap rotor, new timing belt, valve cover gasket, water pump gasket, oil pan sealed, thermostat) 110 in my 94 GS300, completely stock, on the 520 bridge at about 4 am
  11. Im going to have the codes checked later today, but until then, assuming it's the 02 sensor or the EGR, is it safe to drive? Also just a quick Q, 94 GS300 would be OBD II right?
  12. First off my car is a 1994 GS300 with 121,xxx. I just bought it from a dealership july 22 `05. I've never had issues with it until yesterday. One of my friends just got back into town from being away for a while and we had to go pick his car up in Bellevue. He used to own a Navigator and a BMW and both of those cars were in great shape so when he asked to drive mine I hesitated but finally gave in. Before we hit the freeway he asked if I ever tested it out. I said ''what do you mean" then he goes "take it to redline or anything". I said no and that I wanted to change the spark plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, valve cover gasket and distributor O-ring before I tried anything close to that. Well getting on the freeway He put it into drive 2 and gave it a good amount of throttle. We probably hit 5-51/2 K and were only in that rpm range for about 2-3 seconds. So he let off and I put it into overdrive. The rest of the drive was fine. We then stopped at a 7-11 and the hill we parked on was really steep. I didnt notice until after I got back into the car that the parking brake wasn't applied and the "TRAC" indicator light in the gauges then came on. After 7-11 we proceeded to pick up his car and had no problems. After we picked it up, we headed back to our friends house where I stayed for about an hour. Then I was almost home and stopped at a light when my car almost died and I noticed the "TRAC" light was back on and shortly after that came on, the check engine light came on for about 5-10 seconds then turned off. When I got home, I turned the car off, let it sit for a minute, then turned it back on and neither "TRAC" or the check engine light came back on. If something was wrong with my car would the check engine light stay on, or just turn on for a little bit and turn off. This happened on my old supra twice but I never ran into any problems except the heater core going out before I sold it.
  13. Hey everyone. I just bought my 94 GS300 in late July and have been focused on cleaning it up, doing tune up work, and getting it to the condition Im happy with. I just have a rear bumper reflector to replace and order a wood grain dash kit then I'm moving on to upgrading it. I've spent all day searching for pictures of exhaust systems on here, clublexus.com, lexusforum.com, lextasy.com, Intensepower.com, MVPmotorsports.com, and D2autosport.com but I haven't had any luck finding anything except for a few post exactly like the one I'm making now but with no replies. There's a black cherry 2nd gen GS around here with what looks like a Tanabe exhaust and I LOVE the look of the dual oval mufflers with the small/medium sized tips. I was just wondering what other manufacturers make a cat back system for the 1st gen with a stock motor. I do have plans for a 2jz-gte, but that wont be for a while. I still would like Work Euro line Dz wheels, JIC or HKS coilovers, sound system, and move into my own apartment (considering the fact Im only 18 right now) before I carry out a swap, so in the mean time, Im looking for any companys that make a cat-back system for the 2jz-ge. I'm really hoping I get replies, considering the other exhaust threads I found had no replies, and the 1 or 2 that did only mentioned Borla and none of them had pictures. Any help would be appreciated. *Matt* ::edit:: I'm sure some of you may know of this site, but I'm gonna go ahead and post it anyways for those who have this same question later, since all the other posts' had no replies or help in them. http://www.l-tunedparts.com/model/struct.p...id=23&cat_id=10
  14. Hey, just got a 94 GS on friday. Turns out the old owner had a system in it but when he traded it in, he just thew in a different headunit in but never hooked it up. It's mounted and everything which leads me to believe he would have connected it if he could have. Maybe it needs a new harness or somthing, but anyways, I got the piece around the shifter out of place and the ash tray/ lighter pocket out, and also undid the 3 bolts so now the center has more lee way but is still stuck unless Im not pulling hard enough or there's bolts I dont see.. But now what I dont know is if the shifter is a problem that I dont see. I wasnt able to get the top part off of it, I dont know if you need to completely remove that piece around the shifter or just get it loose enough just to get the ash tray out.
