  1. Im getting condensation in one of my headlights so I decided to open em up, clean em, and remove the orange reflector. Only problem is, Im not 100% about where the line I seperate them is at. I've already ran a search using "headlamp" "headlight" "remove headlight" "headlight removal" "lens" and didnt find exactly what I was looking for. Can anyone tell me, or better yet, show me a picture of where I seperate the lens from the housing? Much appreciated. ~matt
  2. Im not to impressed with Lexus' new hybrids. My neighbor is a Lexus master certified tech and he was tellin me there really arent that many benefits over a regular gas engine car. He may be wrong, but he was tellin me they only get better gas mileage in city driving. HW stays about the same. And brake pads are used less because the electric engine spins backwards to slow you down until the brake pedal is pressed more that 80% of the way down. The cell battery is 7 grand and you go through about 3 in the cars lifetime. That was refering to the RX---h, but I dont remember if he said it was the same for all lexus hybrids. Can anyone expand on that? That is all broad info though. He was ''mentioning'' a few things about the hybrids while we were wrenchin away on my GS in the garage, so he wasnt really caring too much about what he was saying.
  3. Sorry if this is the wrong place mods. I'm trying to send danny boy a PM but his box is full and since I know he owns a GS, I figured he'd look in here and see this. DELETE SOME MESSAGES. Mods go ahead and delete this if need-be
  4. Looking for new speakers for the fronts on my 94 GS300. Just wondering what size they are. Already looked in the owners manual and performed a search on LOC and couldnt find it. Also, I had read that the pioneer system uses a 10" sub in a 12" frame. So if I were to purchase an aftermarket 12" sub, it WILL mount in the stock location of the stock sub if I remove the frame? Like how the factory Nakamichi system is right?
  5. oh ya, got my moms 95 Dodge caravan minivan SPORT EDITION (wo0t wo0t) up to 95 on the way to spokane with her in the passenger seat, my sister and her friend in the backseat, and all our luggage in the middle area and the back. Haha, think I made it to Spokane from kirkland in 3.75-4.15 hours. Hit the governer in my step dads s10 4x4 vortec v6 w/ exhaust and K&N intake at 95.
  6. ::jepordy theme song::......::echo sound effect:: anyone? ::echo sound effect::
  7. I think I'm finally starting to learn how to use the fuctions of this forum, the one thing I've found somewhat annoying is the ''my assistant'' and ''last 10 posts'' feature. If you're a person that likes to post alot, or have an ongoing conversation in several topics, it may be hard to keep tract of all of them since the assistant feature on keeps track of the last 10 post, as opposed to say the last ten topics. It helps finding topics you've participated in alot easier and by doing so can help insure that you find the information you're looking for instead of having to look for a topic through tons of other ones. Just seeing what you guys think of this idea. I personally think it would help make this forum alot more user friendly and easier to find topics you're looking for. *edit* There, I took out the forum URL. I was reading the rules and wasnt 100% sure if it was breaking the rules so I took it out for now. Will that get me any replies? If you would like an actual visual, pm me and Ill send you the URL. The creator of that forum started another scion based one as well.
  8. Incase anyone has the same issue I had, I contacted NGK themselves and the rep. I was talking to informed me they dont even make any plug wires for the first gen GS300's (2jz-ge) that he was aware of.
  9. I read somewhere on the work website (having a hard time finding my way around that site) that, depending on size/offset/finish, they'll run around 500 ea. give (most likely) or take (unlikely) 1-200
  10. iForged- Marquis iForged- Retro And my personal FAVORITE.....Work- Euro Line Dh (Savin to buy for my 94 GS) BUT out of the four you mentioned....id probably say Sprint http://www.iforged.com/mainl.html
  11. NM, im dumb. I didnt even think of checking the owners manual. Instead of deleting this topic, Im just going to leave it for future reference. 1994 GS300 factory spark plug gap spec. is .043.
  12. Is the factory spark plug gap spec for a 94 gs300 .o44? Im pretty sure it is, just double checking. Car is sitting in garage with awaiting new plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, valve cover gasket, dist. o-ring, TPS, rear brake pads, brake system flush, and powersteering system flush. EVERYTHING is on hold until I find out the correct gapping numbers. Help ASAP would be appreciated. Thanks. ~Matt~
  13. This "fender mod" you're talking about is called rolling the fenders. The picture you posted is just a fender flare. Rolling the fender is generally used if you have rubbing issues. It just pushes the fender outwards a little more so that when the spring/shock is compressed, the wheel/tire doesnt rub against the inner wheel well. It can be done at home (dont recommend on a $$$$ 06 GS) with a baseball bat and some other tool and you roll the end of the bat on the inside of the fender. The way I'd do it on your GS is take it to a shop, they have a tool that actually is meant for this purpose, rolling fenders. The fender flares (which are what you posted) are only intended as extreme mud flaps. If you have wide wheels/tires w/o rubbing, but they still stick out past the wheel wheel, you put those on to 1)make the car appear wider and 2) to prevent tossing up rocks and mud and everything of that sort. Love those wheels. I have my heart set on Work Euro Line Dh's, and if those dont work out for some odd reason, iForged. Good luck.
  14. Price will honestly vary widely depending on the brand (quality) you purchase. Header...my guess is around 150-300, exhaust is going to be in the high hundreds/low thousands and even possibly around 2K. Machine work depends on what you're having done and labor. You'd have to call companies and research prices and info and all of that to get a good idea.
  15. Lexus is the only place I would think would have that part. Try wetsanding with 2000 grit and polish with plastic polish (mothers, turtle wax, etc), that is assuming it's plastic. Im not quite sure.
  16. If it's condensation, what I said will work perfect. You can also try wet sanding them with 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and then polish them using turtle wax, I believe.....that or mothers, plastic polish. Gets out all the little nics and hazyness then polish them to a shine. For the wetsanding, get yourself a spray bottle (anyone will work), some soap, 2000 grit paper....and this is kind of hard to find, but you'll also need water :P. Put about the size of a quarter's worth of soap in the bottle, dilute it with some water. Get the surface wet, sand it making sure you keep the surface wet (lubricates the sand paper and prevents gunk clogging up on the sandpaper). After you feel all the nics are out, or you're happy with how they feel, just follow the directions on the back of the plastic polish (assuming they're plastic and not glass).
  17. Just for additional input, the one in the link I posted was 60$ as well
  18. Where can I fin NGK wires? Ive had a really hard time so far.
  19. I found website that claims their products match the OEM finish. http://www.wooddashexperts.com/customer/pr...cat=1555&page=1 Has anyone had experience with them or their parts? It says it's a cover and lays over the existing finish, mine is chipped between the armrest and shifter. If I were to simply lay this one over the existing woodtrim, would the "wood" in that area concave over time due to the missing thickness? Or would I chip off 100% of the OEM wood grain on that panel.
  20. Time to do a tune up on the GS. Like stated in the title, it's a 1994 GS300. Was wondering who makes, and where to get, plug wires, rear brake pads, and spark plugs. I know Lexus will have them but they also charge more. On my last car (mk3 supra) I was usuing NGK "blue" plug wires, NGK iridium spark plugs, and not sure what brake pads in the rear (I only changed the fronts to Porterfield Carbon pads while I owned it). I already know I'll be using NGK Iridium plugs, I think I should be able to find those at any auto parts store (schucks, kragen, etc, etc). As far as plug wires go, I was planning on sticking to the NGK ''blues'' since I used them before, worked great, and my neighbor (who happens to be a lead Lexus tech) advised me they would be a good choice. The problem with the wires though, is that I havent found a website that sells them. Could I order them from say Suprasport.com/Suprastore.com out of the MK4 Supra section? I figure since they share the same motor, the parts should be compatable? And now brake pads, if all else fails I will be purchasing OEM rear brake pads at the price of 77.xx. I was wondering if there are any other reputable companies where I can find these pads for less and match, if not exceed OEM performance.
  21. Actually it ended up being a shot TPS. Thanks for your time though.
  22. pulleys, header, exhaust, machine work. Just depends how much money you're willing to spend.
