  1. Hey thanks for the input they might just be able to find me a 5-speed lsd. Thnanks a bunch
  2. I getting my differential welded this weekend but I am buying a back-up diff. just in case something goes wrong. As I am sure you all are aware the 5-speeds are rare, so I haven't been able to locate one in a junkyard. However I did find a SC300 with an automatic trans in a local junkyard, I havent yet crawled underneath it to see if the diff is the same or not though. I have been informed that the gear ratio is different though. Anyone know the compatibilty of this differential in a 5-speed equiped SC300?
  3. It is the in-dash brake light that has the ! in the middle. The fluid level where it should be. It is a 93 dash, I am not sure that this makes a difference, I was sure that all SC's had the same dash.
  4. I have a 93 SC300 5-speed and my in-brake light come on while cornering, accelerating, and shifting. I thought that it might be my rear-subframe bushings but I figured I would check with you guys first. It seems to be coming on more often as time goes by. My fluid is good but the brake pads themselves are going to need to be changed in the next couple of months. I can't figure out what it is and it only seems to happen during hard corners or while accelerating fast. Im open for ideas so please give me all the advice you can. Thanks, Derek
  5. The car is going to be for drifting purposes. Yeah I have been looking for a used Differential for my an SC just in case I do have some trouble with the welded one. Yeah I have noticed that both tires do spin when I power brake or drop the clutch at above 2k rpm, but when i drift in the dry the car has a slight amount of body roll that makes the inside tire do a one wheel smoke show.
  6. I forgot to mention this car has been drifted on a regular basis, so I believe this is what is causing my problems. Thanks Derek
  7. I believe the bushings holding my rear-subframe (houses my differential) are gone. When I shift to 2 and even sometimes 3rd I hear a loud clunk come from the rear of my car, when the clutch pedal is released. It is getting to the point that when I Grab 2nd my in-dash brake light comes on which leads me to believe that my E-brake cable is being stretched just enough to send a signal. When the car is sitting on level ground and I violently shake the car from sided to side in the back I can feel slight play ( remember I said violently) and no it is not the wheel bearings. Has anyone else experienced this? If so what was the cost to replace these or did you do it yourself?
  8. I am thinking about welding my rear-end. My SC is soon to be a track only car and I can think of a lot better things that I can spend $1000 on instead of a KAAZ LSD. I am wondering if the differential and axles can take this amount of stress. What problems do you guys think this would pose on my rear-end? If you want to call me cheap or dont have any positive/helpful advice please keep it to yourself. 9. Well I still havent gotten around to removing the A/C, but I did install the electric fans. This was actually somewhat of a pain, because you cannot see the front side of the radiator. I did feel a noticable gain from doing just this despite what other people have posted on here. Now when I grab second gear from just below redline it definatly chirps the tires for longer, I would almost go as far to say that this gave me more HP than the BFI! I am still awaiting my day off for enough time to COMPLETLY remove the A/C. This looks like its going to be a pretty major task. I am pretty sure that i will have to remove the whole front bumper cover assembly as well as the radiator-a/c radiator, lower lines, compressor, and the hard lines all the way back to the fire wall. I am interested on any info about doing this if any one has any. Thanks guys.
  10. Hi, I am getting ready to update my cooling system, ditch my A/C and find a little more cheap easy HP. I have a 93 SC300 5-speed, in order to take the A/C compressor off I will have to re-route my belts. I would like to know if anyone has done this or if anyone knows if toyota makes a belt for the SC300 with out A/C (part number preferrebly). I just purchased 2 12" electric fans (not installed yet, I am waiting until the weekend) and a therm. So I would like to update to an electric water pump as well and pretty much just keep my alternator and my powersteering running off of my serp. belt. Does anyone know of a good/cheap electric water pump? Has anyone installed an electric water pump, if so what impression did it give as far as hp improvement? I just did the BFI mod and that worked out great. I am still on the market for an AFM adapter plate to accept a simple cone filter but can't seem to find a place that stocks them. Any help will be greatly appreciated and I will post the results of my in-seat dyno (aka butt/seat dyno, lol) Thanks for your help guys, Derek 93 SC300 Black on black wheels, lowered 2 inches, dark tint. 1985 Toyota Corolla 2-tone Hatchback lowered 2 inches 99 Ducati 750 SS 63 Chevy Impala 49k original miles (my baby)
  11. Alright! New struts and coil-overs, that will definatly hold me off until I have the $1800 for the HKS's (which will probobly be a while, lol). Do you know any good sites that you would buy from that carry these? Being as they are for a Supra, are they direct bolt ons? I read at intellexual that Supra suspension fits the SC but I just want to double check. Thanks again, Derek
  12. :chairshot: If your not here to argue than why dont you leave it alone man?!?! As far as traffic infractions go, I have had one neg. and one Felony Elude (155 mph for 10 mins. , complain about that!) I am glad that you have an RPS carbon clutch but quite frankly i didnt ask you what you had. I posted a question dealing with my problems with my car, I dont care what problems you have or havent had with yours. So if you can help me please do if you cant shut up. Thank you everyone else for your efforts. :D
  13. Thanks DAMESTA! Does the Tien basics set have an adjustable spring perch? As far as wieght for the Honda and the Lex, I understand that the SC is several hundred pounds heavier than your average honda, but the spring rates are the same (8kg front, 6kg rear) therefore it would handle the load, really. I plan on drifting with it and to be honest right now I am rolling on some cut springs, lol. What a way to treat a Lex eh? But anywayz thanks for the help. I hope to soon be rolling on the Tien basic until I have enough for the HKS's.
  14. I have been looking for some coil-overs that are cheaper than $1800. So far I have have found Ground Control to offer the cheapest but you still have to buy all new struts to fit them which put the price back up to around $1000. It is said that Supra suspension fits so I looked for a cheaper set for that but still have had no luck. I know that I am paying for quality parts when I buy the HKS or Tien but am looking for something to throw on there until I have an extra $1800 to throw into my car. If anyone has some info on what kind or where to get a set less than $500 let me know please. I have noticed that the HKS spring rates are 8kg in front and 6kg in back. I have lowered plenty of Hondas with OBX coil-overs that are only $100, what do you guys think about grafting on the SC? The only differenct is the Strut tube diameter but I am pretty sure that I can make a sleeve to correct this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  15. Me dangerous? I think not. I know and understand the psychics of driving a car, and have been drifting for 4 years with the 12 AE86 Corollas I have owned which are alot more nervous than my SC. Dangerous is the soccer mom with the 5,000 lb minivan full of kids that doesn't know where her brake pedal is at, or the police chasing the guy that is already doing in excess of a 100mph when they blew by them. I try to keep in on the track but that costs alot more than free. But back to my question. When the car is in up on jackstands I cannot feel any play at all (seriously not even a hint). But I am less worried about that then the firewall flex because I have to bend the clutch pedal back with the tip of my foot to shift after about 30 shifts, which is tweaking the firewall back to the factory spot (or farther back) which in return makes my clutch engagment/disengament right at the bottom of my floor. I had to take my clutch/starter switch out because my pedal wouldnt even reach that because of misalignment.
  16. I work in a machine shop so figured it would be a sinch to rig up a brace. I can't even get the master cylinder off and there are only 2 bolts, one being impossible to reach. It is a very tight fit in there! The fire wall also has some decent conours that would be very hard to match up. Am I seriously the only guy with this problem? Does anyone know the procedure for removing the clutch pedal/master cylinder assembly? There arent any noises and when I drive down the road except my front right break squeaks. I don't think that the play is in a wheel bearing. If you look at the rear-end of the SC it is almost like a "floating differential/rear-end" that sits on bushings. I think the play might be in this design, does anybody have this problem. Its not that noticable, meaning I pretty much have to shake the car violently side to side to make it even noticable, but that is mild compared to when the car sliding sideways at 80mph. Thanks for your reply! :D
  17. I own a 93 SC300 5-speed. I drift daily on public roads on my morning drive to work (occupational license) and have noticed that my clutch engagment point is getting lower and lower. I installed a new clutch after my adjustment was all the way out. After putting a new clutch in my engagment point is still at the floor. After trouble shooting for a while I found my problem. My firewall is flexing almost a 1/4 inch (seriously, I don't know how I didnt figure it out sooner). The car has never been into any accidents and was owned by a woman when I bought it that has all of the factory service records, so I am guessing that auto abuse is out of the question, until it got into my hands that is. Has anyone else drifted the SC regularly and experienced this? Does anyone know of a firewall brace made for the SC or the Supra? What is the pedal effort like on your SC? Another problem I am having is my rear-end is slowly becoming more and more unstable. I actually have play in the rear wheels when I push the car side to side. Is it just the bushings that the diff is housed in or is there a more serious problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
