When the tech at the tuner shop doesn't believe the receptionist, the copy of the insurance card, or the "model year" on the inspection sticker and instead pops the hood to confirm the model year of your car because he thinks it HAS to be a few years newer than it is. Awesome.

^ Ah. You beat me to this one. NO ONE seems to consider that my car is now 15 years old. They still seem impressed by the "status" associated with Lexus ownership. If only they would accompany some of us to the stealerships where they can directly witness how the "Lexus Ownership Experience" has downgraded since the early 90s. I'm wondering how the new aftermarket equipment awaiting installation will affect the reactions to the car, if at all.

Howdy fellow LOC'ers! I've been wearing the "search" button out on this forum for the last week, I've done my research, and now it's time to heat up the credit card. I've decided on the following for my '92 ES300 with 170k on the odometer (the current suspension is very tired): KYB GR-2 struts Tein S-Tech springs Toyota Solara strut tower brace TRD Rear Sway Bar I also understand that I might as well replace the related strut mounts, etc. That's where things have not been as clear with the posts I've found. I'm looking for some advice from those who've been there or who just know - what is the list of related parts so that I can order those at the same time? Strut mounts (2) Sway bar end links (2) _________? _________? Are there particular vendors with whom LOC members may enjoy a substantial discount? Depending on how much of a bite this round takes out of the wallet, the wheels and rims may also follow.

Nice footwork. Anytime there's a product I can place between me and the sunlight, I'm interested. Heck, I may have to contact them about getting one for my other sedan as well. Let's see where this goes...

Purchased the 1992 ES (then 13 year old car) at the age of 34. 35 now.

Two starting attemps and it was off and running. Nothing like what I expected with 165k on the odometer, and in fact this still shot looks quite uneventful: The video clip shows quite a bit more activity (I'll fire that your way, Toys), but what I really wish I'd taped is me driving it off down the alley and then down the street. Pretty good smoke show there, folks, but still nothing like what I expected. Apparently this preventative maintenance stuff, cleaning here and inside there every chance you get, pays off! :)

Always saw the mention of Seafoam over on CL, but this is the first detailed explanation of what it is and how to use it. And I'm sold. After experiencing my 1st episode of the "stalls after coming to a stop after highway driving" and passing my 2nd attempt at state inspection, I stopped by the auto parts store and picked up 2 cans of seafoam. I'm going to perform the engine part tonight and add it to the oil in a few weeks before my oil change. I'm going to record on video the results of the seafoam block cleaning tonight. If I can find a place to host the vid clip I'll post a link. Wish me luck! I'm a little nervous. Especially after reading this post: The good news is that his engine fired up eventually, so here I go...
