I was driving on the interstate today when I heard a pop and smelt burning before my car shut off, I pulled over to try to start it but it wouldn't start, so I got it towed to my house and out oil in it but it still didn't start. What could be the problem?
Did you actually check the oil was low before topping it up?

What does "out oil in it" mean? Do you mean there is no oil in it? If the crankshaft will not turn then likely is seized up from no oil. Or you broke a timing belt and that did it. What year is it? Is it an LS400 or a ?
I'm guessing it's a typo - should have been "put oil in it".

The new RX has quite a few improvements over the old in my opinion, and will likely hold value better for resale. Definitely worth another look if you ask me.

I've used PlastX before and got good results.

Also make sure your jack stands are up to the job - the LX470 is quite a heavy vehicle!
-
I don't think it will be a problem - just a different set up as you say.
Did you try holding the down shifter to see if that drops down to 1st for you?
-
Glad you managed to find it Joan!

Could be the throttle position sensor but would have thought the dealership would have picked up on that?

Do you mean the wheel arch liner?

There's quite a bit on information on here:

Hope all goes well with the repair Prateek!

Have you tried holding the shift lever several times to see if it drops back to 1st? Failing that you could always gradually shift down the gears as you come to a stop, like you would in a proper manual?
-
Sounds to me like the transmission could have some sort of internal failure.
-
Is your car new enough to have a diagnostic port you can plug into and check for error codes? I would think the transmission slipping could be a bigger/more expensive job than the misfire in my opinion.
Premium fuel is generally a bit better in that it also uses detergents too, so it can help to keep everything clean. Personally, if you're having problems then using better gas might not be a bad idea anyway just to see if it helps.

I think the problem is car makers are interested in profits, and if there is a loophole that allows them to meet current regulations with minimal effort then they will.
Personally, I think the idea of the new hydrogen fuel cell vehicles is very interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing the Lexus model - supposedly by 2020 I believe?

Agreed, you need to get lucky and find the right wrecking yard otherwise it's going to get expensive at a body shop.
-
It will certainly prove interesting to drive one of these new transmissions and I'm also interested to see the first few reviews come in.

Pedal to the floor it should definitely use more of the rev range than just 3000 rpm

Wow that's impressive, I new the GS450h was quick but I didn't realise it would reach those kind of speeds!

I spoke with Steve and he doesn't think it's necessary at the moment. I'll just jump in and see what happens I suppose!

Thanks for posting Paul, I was curious to hear how this works. Looking forward to driving one and seeing what it's like. It could change the game when it comes to hybrids and could bring an end to the CVT haters out there!

Hi Paul,
Thanks for having me here - looking forward to getting more involved in the community where I can.
As you may have guessed from my profile I currently own a Lexus IS250 SE-L (do you have the SE-L - it's the fully loaded one in the UK?) which I've had for the last couple of years and it's been great. I've driven/reviewed a selection of other models in the current Lexus (UK) range so I'm very familiar with the brand. I also run a Toyota MR2 Roadster (Spyder in the US) as my "fun" car. I've only just purchased that so still learning about that one.
If you could PM me your email address, I'll drop you a quick email with my contact details.
Hopefully I can be of help!

Today my is250 wouldn't start and the brake pedal was extremely hard to press. After almost 10 min. of pressing the pedal and trying to push start it finally started. Does anyone know what the problem is? Also ABS, check VSC light is on.
You need to get it plugged into diagnostics really. Sounds like an electrical issue - the battery is the first thing to check. Was it slow when it started?

I have a lot of districts here where is no limit in mileage ;-) so it is bad that the is 350 :-) just runs 230 kmh limited. My gs 450h was opened, he was running 303kmh. But there was no hybrid saving effect ;-) but without wife and kids sometimes i let it burn on the autobahn, when i am in my house in the dominican republic i also let run my toyota supra 1996.'but the streets are almost very bad.
303 kmh = 188 mph - that seems very high for a GS 450h? Although I could be wrong. Did you have any modifications?
Radio power feed completely dead.

As Mohammad said, likely to need a new radio unit.
Check this my pulling the radio and seeing if you have 12v going into the back of the unit.
