  1. Try Jeff Watson @ Toyota in Houston (713) 943-7010. Tell him you need the complete gasket kit fot the gte minus the head gasket. It might be cheaper than anywhere else, but maybe not. Tell him you got his info off of Club Lexus/Supra Forum and people recomended him. Ask for a good deal.
  2. i believe it is for the automatic temp sensor.
  3. Pulleys are ok, but you really won't notice much of anything and your car might run a little wierd since it is stock. If you decide to get pulleys anyway, i would go with unorthadox pulleys instead of some no-name brand that you probably can't trust. First mods are always dependent on what you want to do in the future, so good advice is spend wisely the first time and save money in the end. Trust me, i know from experience.
  4. I'm sorry if i might sound rude, but get to know your car, save some money, and do it yourself!!! Everything on that service appt. you can do yourself, it just takes a little motivation and some tools that almost everyone has. Getting to know your car, it helps you in more than just one way. I just don't understand why everybody buys a cars and expects someone else to fix it for them. If you have the money to just blow like bill gates then go ahead, but consider this, if your button on your shirt falls off, you probably know how to sew it back on and will do so yourself; the same applies to your car. If you start understanding your car, then you just might just have some new found respect for it.
  5. 10.1.1 is fine for low boost for turbo, for more boost you need lower compression like 8.5.1 from a thicker headgasket. I have a auto and i love it more than the stick, but that's my pref. I had to get a built tranny and torque converter to handle the power i have. the early non-vvti 97's and before were probably the better ones. look to spend b/w $6,000-$15,000. if you want an excellent turbo kit and prices, check out www.boostlogic.com, they would have everything you need to have a reliable turbo.
  6. thanks sadistic, yeah i talke with the shop today and they said they would help me out some witch is better than nothing. they said i need new pistons, rings, and a valve job, but!!!!! instead, i found a 2jz-ge motor w/ 40,000 miles for $900 with nothing wrong with it guaranteed!!! i am going to get an hks or greddy h/g and get it all installed. hopefully the shop will not charge for installation. and now it's time to get more fuel. i will keep y'all updated.
  7. seeing how it is part my fault for driving the car, would it not be part or whole fault on the performance shop who installed the turbo kit w/ head gasket that I specifically asked if that was a 8.5.1 h/g b/c that is what i wanted installed and what i wanted my compression to be at, and tuned it at 14 1/2 psi and told me it would be fine for me to drive at the current psi when infact it wasn't fine b/c i wasn't at 8.5.1 compression and more like 9.5.1 compression? Am i right or wrong, should they be responsible???
  8. Some way some how friday night my engine detonated!!! and melted the tips off of spark plugs 1-3, burned a hole in the 3rd piston causing the 3rd valve to sieze, and the same with vave 2 and piston 2, don't know what has happened to head until it is taken off tomorrow. If the pistons 1-3 are fried and the head is burned, what is my best course of action??? I have extended warranty, and they should help with the cost of parts, but should I get a new engine, or build what I have??? If I build what I have, what is the most reasonable (cheapest) priced decent parts available and where can I get them for how much??? I am looking to make between 500wrhp and 600wrhp. Any help is appreciated.
  9. I just saw a pair of Dry Carbon Fiber doors for the sc300 and 400??!! Wierd. Never knew they had them. Available through t&e vertex i think. About $5000.
  10. ahh... just remove the cats and be done with it. a lot less expensive.
  11. No, I did not put the kit on myself, I had to get it professionally installed because of the incompatibility of the kit. By saying incompatibility, I mean the f/max kit is genericly made to fit different cars evidently. I spent $3,000 to get it installed and 1 1/2 months later. I hated that part. Honestly, I think if you get the boost logic kit, which is what I would rather have instead, I think you could personally install the kit yourself if you somewhat know what you are doing. The boostlogic kit is probably the best one out there currently. about $4,500 for the kit and you can choose for a bigger turbo if you like and different parts also. The whole kit looks chrome and is beautiful. check them out at www.boostlogic.com.
  12. yes, it is the original engine. It had 76,000 miles on it when I put the turbo on it, and now I have 80,000 miles. Oh yeah, its fun!!!
  13. The paintjob came with the car. Thanks, funny thing my friend also nick named it silver bullet, but I call it turbo coupe. The tranny performs like "butter". kinda jerky b/w 1st and 2nd and back, but it def. holds the power now, and shifts better than stock also the built torque converter helped out a lot by not having a "lag" in b/w gears.
  14. I finally got my car back!!! I missed it sooooo much!!! If you didn't know, I had to get a built tranny and torque converter. Now the car can handle the 450hp that I have. I love the new tranny!!! I've got some new pictures if you want to take a look, check it out at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/522849. Now it's time to get more power!!!
  15. you want turbo, hun?...check out boost logic, out of austin, tx. i went with the f/max kit and i don't like it. i have more upgrades than what came with it, and the kit i have only alows minimal performance. definately check out boost logic and talk with keen or chris johnson and tell them jason with the sc300 referred you. you won't be dissappointed!!!
  16. yeah, i got my iPod hooked up into my stereo, but it is an aftermarket Pioneer headunit. it is hooked up via monstercable, and it sounds better than cd quality. word of advice, before i had my after market headunit, i got a line splitter for the cd changer installed so i could switch between the iPod and cd changer, and it sounded horrible!!! Also the fm transmitter is terrible too. I don't know if the sc430 headunit has audio input in the rear of the headunit, if it does that would be the best route to take other than getting a better aftermarket headunit, but i don't think it does. Try an audio specialist store and ask them.
  17. My car is a 1997. What do you mean how is the e-manage set up? Yes, the e-manage, does control the aux. injectors and I now have no use for the add. inject. cont.<-- good thinking. I believe the 3 bar map does completly replace the MAS, but the e-manage, I believe, can replace both also if I wanted. I will ask kean about the supra tt tranny, thanks, for the compliment.
  18. Yeah, the warranty is through national auto care. It says that if you mod your car it is void, but the shop I am doing it at is going to b.s. them and will get it covered they said. My friend owns it, so I trust him.
  19. What do you mean set-up? Well as of detalis on the tranny, it shifts hard when going from first to second when light on the gas, and when I am stomping on the gas it rev limits in first and won't shift into second unless I take my foot off the gas. All the other gears are becoming the same also. Well, I have a waranty on my car and should cover the tranny, so I would end up spending around $300 for the built tranny and torque converter. The tranny is being sent to boost logic to this guy named keen in houston and he doing it for me. Why would you consider using a th400 or 300 auto tranny? Like I said, I will probably wait for the 6-speed, which I dearly want, b/c the cost for everything including tuning would be around $4,000-$5,000 I am guessing.
  20. I just got back from Panama City, Flordia for spring break, it was beyond awesome, but now since I am running a little over 350 at the wheels, my tranny is slipping- bad. I have to get a built tranny and torque converter now that can handle around 800 hp. I have an automatic and was thinking of getting a 6-speed conversion or 5-speed conversion, but after spending $10,000 on what I have so far not including the price of the car, getting the conversion is looking like it is out of the picture for now, until I get more money. This stuff just seems to be never ending!!!
  21. This is what the kit came with: 3” Mandrel-Bent Down pipe w/ Closed-Loop Waste, gate Discharge, GARRETT/Turbonetics T04E-60 Turbocharger, HKS Standard External Waste gate, Large Front-Mount Intercooler(28x6.5x3.5), HKS Racing Bypass Valve, K&N Air Filter, Oil Cooler, Transmission Cooler, Turbine Heat Shield, Additional Injector Controller, 440cc Lucas Fuel Injectors (2), 3 Bar MAP Sensor, rIDEAL 8.5:1 Compression Ratio Head Gasket, Auto Meter A/F Gauge, Auto Meter Boost Gauge, Greddy Profec B Spec II Boost Controller, Iridium Plugs ARP Head Studs, Walbro Fuel Pump. That is what i know that I have. As of Air considerations, I don't quite understand/know. As of running code, I don't understand/know. From what I understand from help from members from Texas Racing Scene, all I need is the Greddy E-Manage and an ignition that retards timing. But they also recommended that I go talk to a Chris Johnson at Performance Motorsports here in Austin and he would be able to diagnose the problem pretty well. I will find out today and update any info. Thanks a lot for what info has been given so far!
