  1. Check out this thread, if I were you, I would replace the bulb with a LED. Could you post what is the bulb type? D bulb replacement
  2. Yes, but the reality is that once a forum reaches large # of members, it is hard to switch. "First Mover" advantage applies here.
  3. What year is your RX330, RX's brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it attracts up to 3% of water per year. Water boils in brake calipers when the brake get hot and you will have air in the system. Pushing brake pedal to the floor is not a good sign. Check your brake fluid level like Lexkid says and make sure there is no leak. Also if it is more than two years, you need to flush the old fluid.
  4. Try keep the overall diameter the same, similiar offset, and make sure you have clearance for wider tires so you don't rub. BTW, even if you keep the stock tire, overall diameter will change as tire tread wears down from 10/32 or 11/32 to the legal minimum of 2/32 inches.
  5. I have an 00 Acura TL and 00 RX300. SUV for towing my wave runner and TL for performance driving. Not a political activist until last year when BUxx SHxx got re-elected, twenty something and single when I bought both cars. Definitive value conscious
  6. No, but I am getting 20 inch chrome or silver rims. Pics are from a Japanese site and I believe you need coilovers to get more than 1.5 inches lowered. However, Teins has coilover for 2WD already for about $1000.
  7. No, RX is about 30 HP underpowered and very limited aftermarket performance parts. I understand it is for a different cliente but the SUV underperforms its competition.
  8. RX330's grill is painted with gray paint, use paint remover to uncover the beautiful chrome. $5 and 2 hours you will have a new grill
  9. Harrier has "3.0 Four" on the trunk: 3.0L and Four wheel drive. Anyone has a DIY for changing emblems on the trunk door?
  10. I see DRL is a safety feature to let others see you in broad day light. But the more I think of it the less it makes sense. I don't see anyone design a car to turn on sidemarkers and tail lights. Aren't we supposed to alert drivers from behind and both sides as well as in front during day time?
  11. How much is the Harrier emblem?
  12. Muffler won't cause any damage to the engine, you will get minimal performance gain but better look and deeper sound. Unless you remove the cat, you will have no problem passing smog
  13. Get a second opinion of the stuck caliper and worn out rotors. In non-rust belt states toyota calipers last at least 20 years and unlimited miles, especially if the brake fluid is changed every 2-4 years or so. If another shop says also says you need a new caliper it's possible the road salt where you live corroded it. Toyota rotors generally don't wear down too thin and need to be replaced until the 2nd or 3rd set of Toyota pads is installed. It's kind of hard to believe they could be worn too thin at only 70,000 miles unless your wife has already gone through at least one set of Toyota pads in which case that would mean her driving style is hard on the brakes. Autozone / Kragen type pads will wear even quicker and wear down the Toyota rotors more quickly too. ← VGR, I am suggesting to get re-manufactured calipers made by A1 Cardone at Autozone / Kragen, not pads. Personally I would get Akebono ceramic pads and avoid the Lexus semi-metallic, which generate too much dust for my taste.
  14. What is wrong with your brake? If your calipers need a rebuilt. A1 Cardone makes re-manufactured calipers, www.rockauto.com sells unloaded front one at $40 and loaded one for $57. You can even to go local Autozone or Kragen if you don't want to buy on line. Just bring your seized caliper back to get your core deposit back. I did caliper install myself on Acura TL, it it not hard at all. Quality is on par with OEM.
  15. I think that website - like virtually all the synthetic & specialty oil promoting websites - grossly misleads the public and especially Asian car owners. The website says: "We accept that for most people in most cars, regular old "dinosaur juice" mineral-based motor oil will work just fine. We have seen plenty of cars run beyond 150,000 miles and 200,000 miles using regular old "dinosaur juice" mineral-based motor oil stuff as long as the oil is changed regularly. However, not everyone is content with "good enough". Some consider 150,000 miles to be broken-in, and seek to double or triple that vehicle service life." That statement is grossly misleading because it fails to inform the public that countless numbers of Toyota and other Asian car owners have driven 500,000 - 650,000 miles using conventional oil changed every 3000 - 5000 miles: http://www.saber.net/~monarch/cole2.JPG Toyota, of course, knows its engines are engineered to run 600,000 miles on conventional oil and that is likely one reason Toyota says the benefits of synthetic are marginal and not worth the extra cost. ← Using your argument, those who promote changing oil at 3000 miles have financial interests in Jiffy Lube or dyno juice recycling companies. They also purposely mislead consumers by urging oil change interval less than OEM recommendation.
  16. Navigate around this site you will see oil study on Mobil 1 and Amsoil http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/oil-life.html http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/amsoil.html http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stories/mobil1.html
  17. I didn't say "all syn oil is junk" and neither does corporate Toyota / Lexus. Corporate Toyota / Lexus just says the engine wear benefits of synthetic in Toyota / Lexus vehicles are too marginal to justify the extra cost. ← The same "reliable" Toyota/Lexus that designed the RX's tranny to hesitate, forced owners to change tranny oil every 15K?
  18. If Yugo's came with synthetic oil straight from factory and a had a recommended change interval of 10,000 miles, would that be justification for a Toyota / Lexus owner to disregard the advice of the Toyota engineers and: a) Switch to synthetic oil before the first recommended oil change interval? B) Exceed Toyotas 6 month, 5,000 mile oil change interval if using synthetic? Mercedes automobiles, like other European makes, do not have a reputation for exceptional reliability and durability so I don't think it's reasonable for an Asian car owner to follow the car care advice of other car makers with lower reliability and durability standards. Historically the Asian car makers have recommended more frequent service intervals than the Americans and Europeans and they have always gone to the trouble and expense of equipping their engine blocks, transmissions, rear axles with convenient drain plugs. Planned obsolesence, not reliability and durability, is a priority of the American and European and European car makers. ← Hmm...seems you are making a blanket statements "all syn oil is junk", then why Lexus dealers offer syn oil change services?
  19. Most new MBs have syn oil straight from factory, recommended change interval is 10K.
  20. I would go for K&N, which is cotton with a nylon mesh. I have Comptech Icebox for my Acura, it has a foam filter which I will replace with K&N RU2590 Universial Cone Filter when it is due for cleaning. Not sure it will fit for Weapon R but you need to measure pipe diameter and find the right one. www.ajusa.com has the best price with free shipping. Again, personnally I would not buy short ram. A K&N drop in filter, removing the resonator, and extending a pipe to collect cold air to where resonator was probably give you more hp for less $.
  21. I do mine every 10K w/ Mobil 1 syn oil, top oil off at 5k mark. Oil may still last another 2K but 5w30 oil close to 10w40 and the oil filter might be clogged.
