Strange, 4yrs ago on my 03 lx, I pulled the tool bag out the side compartment with the lug wrench & stuff in it one day & my radio went mute. I turned off the key switch, put the bag back in it's location & the radio jumped back on & had no problem since. Weird.
I had this work done back in 07 when I ordered chromed door handles for my car. They fix the problem & installed my handles for free @ Lindsey Lexus, Alexandria, Va.
I had a recall letter in my car glove box when i purchased it. My car is a 98 GS400. I was installing chrome door handles & got stuck on the back doors. I took it to the dealer, showed them the letter & they replaced the actuators & finished installing my handles for free. If anybody wants a copy or the notice, just send me your email address & i'll send you a copy of the letter.
That sounds like the bulb. I've purchased hid bulbs in the past that come on or flickered for a few secs then shut off. Did you try swapping the bulbs.try that & if that bulb comes on & stay on. It's not the ballast it's the bulb.
I was just wondering how many gs owners knew about the door actuator recall. My drivers side door when you get out & closed, then hit the the key fob button. It would lock the door but wouldnt activate the alarm. The alarm would activate after opening another door. By coincidence I found the recall info in the manual. Took it to the dealer & showed them the notice & they repaired it.
I own a 98 GS400. The car is 14yrs old. I had it for 9yrs. & it just hit the 200k range. The only problem I had was the starter. Still rides like a dream, still running strong, & still quiet as a church mouse. & listen to this: no rust. All electrical still works. The only recall I had done to my car was the door actuators.
I have a brother who had a 2000 GS300 that had the same problem. His was the catalytic converter. He had all the symptoms u described. After replacing the cat, the car went back to normal & drove fine until he totaled it 2 months later.
A cool trick I use cuz sometimes my cables use to get loose. I use aluminum foil. Place some around the post after u cleaned everything, then wrap enough around the post. Then reinstall your cables, tighten it up & your go to go afterwards. Should have no more problems.
Try using wd40 or some other penetrating spray that has the straw. Take the spray & stick it inside the window guides & spray as u move your window up & down. It will loosen. When the guides get dry it makes the window hard to move up/down & knock the window offtrack.
Change your upper & lower control arm bushings, you have 2 lower control arms. strut mounts, sway bar links. If u can't find a shop to press out the bushings, have them replace. Also you mite as well replace your struts in the process. Just found out struts only last for 50k miles.
I can tell you this. I purchase my 98 GS400 9yrs ago. It had 86k, now @ 199k. Still run strong with no leaks, rust, anything. In the 9yrs of ownership, I can say I had @least 5 issues. All minor. Would I buy again? Hell yeah without a pause.
eBay use to have this Jl audio replacement speaker rated at 75 watts & 8 ohms for $100. It has to be 8ohms. Anything lower than 8ohms would cause your stereo to shut down. A standard 8' 8ohm house speaker should do the trick.
Well I've replaced my subwoofer twice. Once you take the seat out & flip the carpet, remove the screws, the whole panel would snap out. Remove the screws around the sub box then unplug the connector. Once you remove the foam around the speaker, you can get to the screws to replace the speaker.
I have factory 18' on my LX. The ride is good. If you go larger, I recommend finding some oem chrome 18' rims. I believe you go any larger, you take away the ride quality.
I'm leaning towards buying the stock 20' rims off the current lx570 for my 03 lx. I've checked the specs and they are the same as the current 18' rims on my truck!
