  1. I'm in Australia, I couldnt find a place to edit my profile...
  2. Hey all, what's the deal with these? Can they be activated? Are they on an analog network? Cheers - Gav
  3. Hey guys, My keyless entry/door lock doesn't make a sound when locking/unlocking the doors. Can this be changed? - Gav
  4. Hey, not to step on anyones toes, but wouldn't you say that adding a loud exhaust to a quite car seems like a bit of a waste (or contradicion)? That said, is there any way to modify the exaust (for increased power) with out changing the sound too much? - Gav
  5. Yep, I got it sorted :) The reason I was having so much trouble? The dude from Auto barn sold me the wron globes! Lol, the fittings on the es300 actually disconnect abt 2 cm beloe where the bulb I had bought do... And here's me wondering why the hell I couldn't pull it off. lol, lucky I didnt break anything. Back to square one. To buy the right globes. I spoke to lexus, who couldn't help with blue globes, (and I didn't have a pen) but he said I was looking for HB3's. Is that right? - Gav
  6. Mine is a 93 es 300, black ext, black leather interior.
  7. After looking at a few post the other day about changing headlight globes, I've gone with some of those brilliant white ones with the blue on the outside. But after removing the light from the casing, how do I actually get if off (separate the globe from the wires)? - Gav
  8. Ahh, thanks lex :) That makes a bit of sense, I know that my mounts are sagging, so I guess it's possibly that... Hey steviej, I'm from Australia, so yeah, kilometers... And as far as the octane rating goes. it's only our "high end" premium unleaded that has that. I'm pretty sure most premiums are 96 (ish) and reg is 91. I know the T-belt should be done between a soft 150 and a hard 90 k, but since I don't have history for the last few years, is there a way lexus can tell? - Gav
  9. $14 for the bar!!?? nice, I'm considering getting one myself. Hey, when u guy's say, "easy to install" do you mean even a novice like me could do it? I'd say i was technically minded, but I've never done anything like that before...
  10. Ok, I'll have a look at doing that. I'm sure the t-belt would have been done already, it's up to just over 200,000 K's I'll prob just get it done for the hell of it as I cant afford to make a serious mistake. I actually use petrol with a 98 octane rating. Am I right in thinking this is just as good (if not better) as the 91 -93? And alas, the owner before me owns a few service/petrol stations, so the on site mechanic took car of his car for him, which pretty means I've got bugger all service history after the first 80 k(ish) done by Lexus. - Gav
  11. Yeah, It happens with all types of CDs...
  12. Hey. I've noticed that my car can idle a *tiny* bit rough when it's at normal drivng temp. I did have it checked out by Lexus before I purchased it, on the little ticky sheet, it passed the "idle too low/too high" component. They did say the engine mounts are sagging a bit, but didn't require any attention for around 30,000 k's. The guy I bought it off wasn't sure when the Timing belt was done last. He think's recently though. Does anyone think either of these could cause my problem? I know it's bad, but what happens if I take too long to change the timing belt? And could lexus give me an indication of when I may need to change it? Cheers again. - Gav P.s. Sorry guys, I feel like a real dog just asking questions and not being able to give anything back.
  13. :) That's EXACTLY what I wated to hear :) Cheers
  14. Cool, thanks. Are there any other ones? Or do lexus sell them? Do you know if it requires wiring it up? Or is it self contained? cheers :) - Gav
  15. Hey, I only bought my car Around a week ago or so, but since then, very intermitantly, the cd changer displays "err". As I've only had the car for a lil while, I've not been able to notice much of a pattern. Here's what I've come up with: It only tends to happen when I start it... I.e. If it's playing, I'm right to change CDs whenever... (unless the CD is scratched, in which case it displays the same error). I've found, to fix it (lol@backyard auto elec) I switch it to radio turn the unit off for about a minute, turn it back on (same as a re-boot, I figure) listen to radio for a minute or two, switch to CD, and it seems to work (not every time). As you can imagine, this gets fairly annoying. Has anyone else had the same trouble, or know what to do? Cheers - Gav
  16. Hey, I wouldn't mind putting in one of those rear vision mirrors that dim when the lights behind you get too bright. Did any later models come with these? Or does any one have one? What do you think? - Gav
  17. Ah ok, cool. Did that mean you had to give up existing speakers for the sub? Or did you split the signal? lol@fairy lights, I just might look into that... The reason I asked is that (if it's not already obvious) I'm not all that cluey on stereo's and wasn't sure if the quality of speakers I'd be putting in would be of way less quality...
  18. Thanks mate. Is there anything I can do with the current amp?? And yeah, on a closer inspection, there apears to be a split in the cone of the 6x9s so I'll prob just put in 7x10s for now. Unless anyone objects.... - Gav
  19. Hey guys, I'll just start by saying, this is a really handy forum. Thanks. :) My question: I have the standard stereo that comes with a 93 Es 300, to which I'm wanting to add an amp and two subs. I've been advised that as these don't have an rca output, I'm not able to add an amp with out a measureable drop in quality. I'm also fairly cautious about just changing the head unit, as the one I have, is quite good. Does any one know of a HU with rca out, that would fit my car (e.g. later Es300 stereo)? Or does anyone else have another solution? cheers - Gav P.s. I've also noticed a vibration in the back two speakers (I've given them a fair workout since buying it) Being that it's happening with both of them, I'm tending to believe it's a vibration rather than distortion. Can anyone help here?
