  1. sounds like a common door actuator problem. I had this with my 99 gs400. I had the dealership replace the lock assembly to correct.
  2. I had the same issue a few years ago. I also thought it would be something simple, no such luck. Mine ended up being the cluster lighting computer. Lexus replaced the part to resolve the issue. Lexus should be able to diagnose the problem easily. Good luck
  3. There are two throttle position sensors that seem to have issues. Once upon a time, my symptoms were the same as yours. Lexus replaced on of the sensors and things seemed well. A few weeks later, the symptoms returned. Lexus replaced the second sensor to fix the issue. Be careful driving the car with this problem. It can be scary when the sensor fails while driving in traffic. Lexus should be able to easily diagnose this issue. Good luck.
  4. I have had mine replaced twice. One time no sound at all, the other time just lots of distorted sound. Both times I had the dealer do it since it was under Lexus warranty. For an after market replacement, I would look for a car stereo shop that has done it before. I would not trust anyone for information unless they have successfully done it before. Good luck.
  5. silverstars are a good choice for an easy replacement. They provide much whiter light than stock bulbs. HID are even brighter and whiter. They are also much more expensive. I have had the silverstars for over a year with no issues.
  6. I had a 2000, smokey topaz that had the same issue. Lexus offered to paint it under CPO. iIthink that color has some issues.
  7. I talked to Vaistech about their products. They sound like they have a tight integration with lexus/ipod. Apparently it lists the song names on the screen if you have navagation, pretty cool. I think it is under $300 and can be installed by an audio shop. You mind posting the link? I am intrested in iPod conectivity as well. Unlike you, I didnt have much luck in my search. thanks Cick on the VAIS in my post above. <_<
  8. I think this is a starter. As noted before, some dealerships charge around $800. An independent garage with oem part may be around $500. You could probably get an aftermarket starter for around $200 and do it yourself. It would be worth you time to triple check your battery and connections before making a commitment to replace your starter. I am kind of in the same situation myself. Over the holidays my 99 gs400 w/ 49,000 miles would not start - just got the CLICK. I initially thought it was the battery because it started with a jump. After charging for several hours in hope of resolving the issue, it would not start again. I took it to an independent garage that said the battery was dead. They also verified the draw was normal when the car is not running. After their charge it started perfectly for one month. Now it sits in my garage with nothing but a click....... At this point, I need to get it back to the shop to test further an probably replace the starter. This seems to be a common problem, very disappointing
