  1. you use toyota dextron, not type 4.

    here's a diy I did.....

Here's what I used..a quart of Toyota Dextron and a new hobby fuel bottle.

You can get a the fuel bottle from your local hobby shop or order one for about $5-$7. here's one ..... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti00...=LXD531&P=7 Otherwise, I'm sure you can find something at parts store to do the same thing.

Remove the cap from power steering reservoir. Make sure the spout is clean and squeeze the fuel bottle.

    ps_diy_005.jpg

Gently insert spout into reservoir and release pressure on bottle so it sucks out the old fluid.

I got this on first pull...

This is how much that came out second time after I emptied the bottle and repeated.

    Here's the reservoir empty.

Now refill to a few mm below the hot line with fresh Dextron and you're done.

Repeat this process as many times as you want after a day or so of driving for the fluid to mix with remaining fluid. I know it's not as good as a total flush, but it will eventually get the fluid nice in there. I did this about 5 times this week(this was the last) and the fluid looked better every time and now it stays red. My car has 37k miles and this was the first time that fluid was touched.

  2. Hi there,

Would anyone out there know if 17" Factory Rims off a 2006 GS300 will fit onto my 1999 GS300? I asked my local Lexus dealer and they didnt know :( )

    thanks in advance

    Of course they will.

    I am running 18" x 8" rims off a 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe.

what does that have to do with his question? offset is just as important as size.

to answer the question, CRSO is right, they will fit fine. they will also be hubcentric, which the infinity wheels are not.

  3. Hey guys...thanks for the input! Alot of your advice on the Beemer realy helped me make my decision...I got full price for my ES (guy didn't haggle at all) I got 4,700 for my 94 w/ 133k on it. So this is what I ended up with...

congrats man-$4700 is a good price. Like I said, I just sold my "95 with 93K miles for $4k.

good luck with the new car.

  4. Hi every one...

I would like to find out if many of you did changed their spark plugs on a gs 400 (1998) by themselve ????

On the driver side, it seem fairly easy, but on the passenger side it is an other storie...

So before adventuring in unknowed land I would like to know what you did, what kind of difficulty I am looking for, and how long it took you from start to finish,,,

Would you do it again or send it to a mechanic ????

I have no problem opening up my motor bike or working all over my mustang, but i found this car (gs400) intimidating when its time to work on it. Maybe because i know for sure it's gonna cost me a bundle if I do it wrong...

    Dantheman

I've never done plugs on my GS yet, but from what I've seen, you just remove engine cover, unscrew the coil packs and pull them up and replace plugs.

    here's a DIY link.... http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread...ight=spark+plug

  5. So this is still happening. I bought an OBD scanner, reset the light. In the morning, when it is cold the light never comes on. In the afternoon it comes on after driving on the freeway for about 5 minutes. I have repeated this test multiple times with the same result. Does this seem like the temperature sensor or the modulator? I'd just rather not replace everything if I can avoid it.

    Thanks...

I'd replace the modulator and see if that takes care of it since you've already cleaned out the egr.

  6. I backed out...I didn't trust the guy and there was an idiot light for the suspension. I'm checking out an 03 tiburon black on black gt with 35k on it for the same price. The Beemer is my dream car, but the Hyundai (for being a 21 yeard old) is smarter 'cause of the great warranty and stuff. Someday I'll get the 740 (or 750 :-) ) just probably not yet. Thanks guys!

wow, from a flagship BMW to a Hyundai  how about a GS400? you should find a nice one under $15k.

  7. Hey guys - just wondering if anyone has any thoughts for me here.

I have a 1994 es300 in mint condition. Everyone who sees it thinks it's a 99. It has 135k on it tan w/ all options. The trade in on it is $3,250. A dealership owned by a friend will give me 4k for it no questions asked - and I am heavily considering a loaded 1998 BMW 740iL with 52000 miles on it for $12,995 with a clean car fax history. Is this a good decision? I don't think I'll have another chance to get that kind of cash for my car...any bad experiences with 7 series anyone? Thanks guys

I just sold my 95 ES with 93k miles for $4k. It was to my brother though and the car had a few issues.(valve cover leak, bad egr, 90k svc due)

the 98 740il sounds like alot of car for $13k, but if anything breaks I'm sure it's top dollar to fix.
