  1. Hi Everyone, On my 08' 400H, when the engine kicks in on take off (normal driving), I find it doesn't feel as smooth (and detectable) as compare to say when I'm cruising at 50km/h which I couldn't tell unless I look at the dashboard. I read that Lexus had improved in this area on the 2010 rx450 whereby the transition between electric to motor is seamless. I'm using a premium fuel (95 octane). Anyone else feel the same? Engine Start - do you normally wait for the engine to warm up for the first couple of minutes and auto-shutdown before you drive off? Tyre pressure - The tyre placard says 230kpa. My 4 tyres are currently showing 280kpa on cold check. Thinking of pumping it to 300kpa. Is that too high? I'm contemplating whether to add rear parking sensors. How does everyone feel about them? I'm a little nervous during night time when it's harder to rely on the reverse camera vision. Merry Xmas everyone...
  2. I get noise from the leather rubbings around the rear seat pullout armrest. It gets better when I have the armest down than up. Does anyone have a fix for it?
  3. You must enter VOICETAG into the Phonebook of your RX. At the Telephone screen go to Phonebook, choose one entry, go to EDIT, now you are able to edit this entry, you must go to the second page of this edit where is VOICETAG. There you will record the name. It is finished now. It works with my 1st generation iPhone without problems, however iPhone by itself has no voice dial function. Regards Bluesman Thanks Bluesman. I've got it working now. Need to go into the phonebook entry to add a number, then I had to scroll to the next screen to see the option to record the name. We had a bit of a laugh when I was demonstrating it to a few friends and I say one name and the system thinks it's another. Must be it's something to do with my accents...
  4. Under full acceleration, the front & rear batteries, and the engine work together seamlessly. I notice the vehicle does not come with the 7" multi-information display and navigation system screen so I guess you don't get to view the Energy Monitor screen like we do in AUS. Google for lexus hybrid energy monitor' and you know what I mean. The electric tailgate comes standard as well on our RX Hybrid. I've been able to cruise up to 35-40km on electric power if I go easy on the pedal in shopping carparks. Just not sure about range though.
  5. One of my fellow Oz member said the voice control only seems to work with the phone system on our RX, not with the sat nav or aircon etc. You have to record the names of your 20 favourite contacts, each associated with a phone number. Then when you want to call them, press the phone button, then the talk button. The system will prompt you to say a name and will connect if it's recognised.
  6. Mine is the updated 2008 spec which received upgrades to headlights, tail-lights, badging and a door sill package, revised chrome grille, new door handles, chrome-finish 18-inch alloy wheels, and a colour-coded rear spoiler, black wood panel accents on the doors, instrument panel, steering wheel and armrests, anti-theft intrusion detector, SatNav, ML audio, and Bluetooth. Back to my voice commands issue, when I'm in any screen other than telephone, pressing 'talk' button gives "Voice recognition is not available in this screen. Please change to telephone screen". Now that I'm in the telephone screen, pressing 'talk' button gives 'Voicetag is empty'. Press and hold the 'talk' button gives 'speech recognition mode is finished'. arghhhhh!. It's like voice commands does not work all. It's no biggy but a nice feature to have. On our TV, Ford is advertising their new Ford Mondeo and the selling point is their built-in voice commands which you can turn on aircon, select audio tracks etc...
  7. Just tried it on mine. I pressed once on the Voice command on the steering wheel and an audible speech says 'voice recognition is not available on this screen" while the screen displays voice recognition is not available on this screen and that I have to be in the telephone menu, and when I'm in the telephone menu, I get Voicetag is not available. If I pressed and hold the button, I get 'speech recognition is finished'!!!. I'm thinking we've been short-changed again.
  8. My bad......now that you've mentioned the button on the steering wheel, I'm pretty sure I saw the button but haven't really take much notice of it! Can't wait to test it out when I get home tonight. Lemon - thankx for the link to the voice commands. I may have better luck with my aussie accents .
  9. Hi All.... I read on here that some owners were able to use voice commands for temperature controls and other things but I couldn't find anything mentioned in my 08's owner's manual about voice commands. I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. Many thanks in advance...
  10. Thankfully, we only get one spec for the RX400h and it comes standard with all the bells & whistles. Mine comes with the lovely black maple wood trim and ivory color leather interior. Sweet ride indeed but lexus pricing here costs twice as much as it is over in the US of A! :P
  11. Now that I've had my RX400h for couple of weeks, my experience are as follow: 1. On cold start, when the motor kicks in, it would run for about 1 min and then shuts down. During this period, the engine noise (or whatever hydraulic is running under the hood) seems a bit rough (loudness) and IMO does not reflect the price/quality of the vehicle. There is also the occasion shakes when the engine turns over (starts up). 2. It's noticeable when the motor kicks in compare to engine going off, and more noticeable during stop/start than rolling light acceleration. 3. excellent NVH. Superb Mark Levinson audio. Luv power lift door and reverse camera.
  12. Interesting to read the same vehicle is equipped with different brands of tyre depending on where you are. In Aus, my 2008 rx400h comes with Bridgestone Potenza RE030 235/55 R18.
  13. I recently acquired a pre-owned 2008 rx400h and found this forum to be quite active compare to the aussie club. I've only had the vehicle for a few days. I have a couple of queries which I hope someone could help me out. 1. Twice now I noticed a small pool of water directly underneath the engine after I took it out for a drive and then parked in the shed. Using a torch, I traced the source of the water was dripping from a black rubber tube pointed downwards. It seems logical but I'm curious where the water is coming from. Could it be water generated from using the aircon? 2. DVD Video playback resume function. Doesn't seem to have Resume function when I play a DVD video disc, toggle to CD, and then back to DVD. the DVD video doesn't start where it left off. Apart from that, the vehicle is a blast to drive. Cheers All...
