  1. I plan on purchasing an LS460 later this year. In the course of investigating the market I talked to what I believe to be a very good dealer near my home. They said that many of their customers use a second set of rims for winter tires. I am considering purchasing the OEM accessory chromed Teleios wheels for the summer tires and use the rims that come with the car for the winter. For winter, they recommend Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 tires (including installation of tire pressure monitors). Not a cheap way to go but the car will look great all year long. I keep my cars for at least 10 years so over the long haul the extra rims will pay for themselves.
  2. Wow, I've never seen anything like this before. This gives a new meaning to "Fly by Wire".
  3. Has anyone with a 2010 LS460 experienced the dreaded wind noise problem yet?
  4. Wow!!! I think Toyota is handling this situation very well. They have moved very quickly to get the issue out there and try to determine what the problem really is - necessary if a fix is to be found. From what I have read to date it is unclear if the problem lies with the design of the part(s) or QC in their manufacture. In any case the first priority is to get the information out there that Toyota is acting decisively on this issue. This is going to cost them a bundle and not at a good time in the economy. In the long run I believe they will maintain their well earned reputation for quality and putting the customer first. Just my opinion.
  5. I have heard of people getting a second copy of the Owner's manual at no cost by asking for one from their dealer and/or Lexus. Two hard copies would be nice so one can stay in the vehicle and the other at home.
  6. The 2009 LS460 has a rocker folding switch for the outside rear view mirrors located under the left driver’s dash air vent left of the steering wheel. To quote the Owner’s Manual: “Putting the outside rear view mirror folding switch in the neutral position sets the mirrors in automatic mode. Automatic mode allows the folding or extending of the mirrors to be linked to locking/unlocking of the doors.” So, if you don't want the mirrors to fold back when you leave the vehicle leave the switch in the left position. By the way; I down loaded the various sections of the Owner’s Manual from the Lexus web site. There were a lot of them and all can be saved as pdf documents. I used a utility to merge them all in the appropriate order. This gives me an easily readable copy of the manual that can be searched. Unfortunately the page/section links in the document don’t work. I did manually put links in for the major sections. This took a bit of time but I suppose it was worth the time (it also helps to be retired!!). Does anyone know if the complete copy of the Owner’s Manual is available from Lexus on line? It would be nice to simply do a single download and have all links functional.
  7. Check the "Customizable Features" in your Owner's Manual. I believe 2009 LS models can have the control of power windows using the wireless remote control turned on or off. Off is the default position. Turning this off might avoid problems with inadvertent activation and your issue, of course if that was indeed the problem.
