This question has been answered on your thread posted to "Club Lexus Forum". See latest posting. -
All the sensors, including the spare tire, are located in the valve stem. I have seen threads on this subject before and no one knows seems to know how to disable the feature.

Imperial To Metric
MikeE123456 replied to southender's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
Southender, There is a nav setting that allows you to select Kilimeters or Miles for the nav unit. I have a 2011 model LS460 and for it you can push the Setup button / touch General / touch Unit of Measurement / touch either kilometer or Miles. As for the XM radio I have not experienced any issues in southern Ontario or up north in Algonquin Park or the Muskoka area. I wonder if your antenna has problems. Although (perhaps predictably) 1990LS460 lacks tack/civility he has a point. If you purchase an automobile in another country there may be local settings you may have to live with. At least you should be able to operate the nav unit in metric units in Canada if you want. -

Your Assitance Please In 460 Radio

I think you will need to change the tuner (I read one estimate of $500 or so). There doesn't seem to be any way to get the tuner to stop at even frequencies for North American Lexus cars. There was mention of this over at ClubLexus.com by a guy form Riyadh but no resolution to the problem was posted. You might want to have a look and send a PM or thread there. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls460-ls460l-and-ls600h/507016-changing-fm-frequency-interval-is-there-a-way.html Mike -

2008 Ls460 Valve Spring Recall
MikeE123456 replied to divitra's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
Comments I have seen don't indicate any problems with this major fix. However, there has been a lot of chatter and confusion regarding warrantee extension and receipt of $500 in "Lexus" dollars, i.e. redeemable only against costs at dealerships. Since your VSR was done prior to your purchase I don't think you can get the $$ but you should get the warrantee extension - I'm not sure of the details but you should search this forum or the many posts over at Club Lexus to find out more. Cobtinental Dws Size Question
MikeE123456 replied to ranger2692's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
As far as I understand tire size designations you have two considerations. 1. Will the larger tire fit? 2. Is the larger circumference an issue? At the risk of stating what you may already be aware of I think the following calculations are what you need to perform to answer these questions. The tire size designated for the car is 235/50/18. - 235 is the maximum cross section of the tire at 235 mm or 9.25 inches - 50 is the tire side wall height as a percentage of the cross section or 4.63 inches - 18 is the diameter of the rim in inches The replacement tire size you are considering differs by a side wall height that is 5% larger (55% - 50%) or 0.46 inches. The resulting total diameter of the wheel is twice the tire sidewall height plus the rim diameter. This works out to 27.25 inches for the designated tire and 28.18 inches for the replacement tire, a difference of 0.93 inches. This is the minimum amount of extra clearance needed. If the larger tire does fit, I would imagine you would have to consider the adequacy of the reduced clearance when fully turning the wheel and suspension travel over bumps in the road. Also, are handling and control affected by this difference? The circumference (Pi times the total wheel diameter) of the replacement tire will also be larger at 88.52 compared to 85.61inches. This is only a 3.3% difference. I imagine the odometer will therefore read too few miles travelled by this percentage and the speedometer slower by 3.3% than actual. I guess this doesnt really answer your question but you might be interested in the considerations needed. Perhaps others more familiar with using larger rims and/or tires could offer a better informed opinion and comment on my calculations. Mike -

Is It The Right Time To Buy A New Ls460?
MikeE123456 replied to Kevin C's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
I purchased an 2011 LS460 SWB AWD and couldn't be happier with it. For what it's worth, I think this is a very good time to buy. The model has been out since 2007 so enough time to work out design problems (hopefully) and with the recent, 2010, update the model is fresh. A new model won't be out until at least 2013 so I think this is the sweat spot. If you can find one with the options/colour you want great but if not ... With the tragic situation in Japan new orders may take longer than the 3 months I waited. Go for it. I'm glad I did. Mike -
You might want to look at a thread in the Club Lexus forum. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls460-ls460l-and-ls600h/547457-ls460-owners-especially-awd-please-help.html The original poster "edarte" would be interested in hearing of your experiences. He, and I, have an LS460 SWB AWD. His is a 2009 and mine is a 2011. I am not having similar problems but your problems seem similar to his. You might want to join the Club Lexus forum and PM him. I am sure he would like to hear from you. I will pass a link to this forum to him as well. Good luck, sorry I can't be of any help. Mike

Audio Amp Failure In 07 Ls460
MikeE123456 replied to LS430 in New Zealand's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
How did you get the fuse out? I can't get it with my fingers. You will find a fuse puller in the car's fuse compartment. Have a look at the on-line manual at: https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/info/my-lexus/resources/owners-manual-search.do Select “Owner’s Manual” for document; “fuse” for keyword; “LS460” for model and “2007” for year. Click on search. You will be given a short list of pdf documents. Click on “2007 LS460/460L: Do-it-yourself maintenance (pdf)” On page 530 of the pdf is the “Checking and replacing fuses” section. You should find everything you need there. The fuse pullout tool is in a fuse compartment. Note: If the model selection drop down list doesn’t give you a list of models click on the “Online Owner’s Manual” link at the top left of screen. This will refresh this page and the drop down should now work. -

Frequent Problem With This Forum Web Site
MikeE123456 replied to MikeE123456's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
The problem originates on the forum topics page. When the problem occurs the green progress bar on the status bar stops at one green square and doesn't change. Also the tab title shows the blue circle indicating the site is still loading but it never does. I am unable to open a new tab or go back to the forum topics tab. It just locks up. -
A few weeks ago I started having problems with this forum web site. The site frequently locks up my browser and I have to hard end session (using ctrl-alt-del) to get out. I also like to used the view unread postings icon in combination with the Ctrl button to open it in another tab of the same browser instance. I am using Windows Internet Explorer v7. Has anyone else had a similar problem. I don't have any similar problem anywhere else on the net.

2010 Ls460 Wind Noise
MikeE123456 replied to MikeE123456's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
The wind noise is indeed a feature of some of the 2010 LSs too. But, repairing it is a 10 minute/2$ DIY project for most of the problem cars. So out of all the dealers and Lexus corp you believe you have a 10 min fix. :whistles: Lex460 - JEff in Tex is right. A DIY fix has been known for at least a couple of years. See jmcraney's fix on Club Lexus forum. He has been extremely helpful in providing directions to do the fix. Trouble is I am not a DIY type of guy and I am looking at a new LS460 later this year and am interested to see if the 2010 still has the problem. The fix isn't really a design change at all and I was hopefull that Lexus finally got it!! Seems not. In any case the bottom line is that not everyone has the problem, perhaps the majority, and it can be fixed. -
Pixs Of Ls 460 Next To Bentley
MikeE123456 replied to lex460's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
Are those Teleios chromed wheels on the LS460. Looks great. Nice comparisons - it's still the LS460 for me! Really? If someone gave you a choice between a free LS460 and a free Bentley...you'd take the LS460? I hardly think so. OK, sure so would I. The second thing I would do is sell the Bently, buy the LS460 and take the cash balance and use it on a (or several) trips. -

Snow Or All Season Tires?
MikeE123456 replied to jaf319960's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
I went through a similar plight when I bought our '08 LS. I live west of Denver up against the mountains and we get some serious snow here at the house. Many times the county plows don't get to our streets for days at a time. After a lot of research and talking with others, I got another set of four wheels (Teleios) and run the summer original tires on those. I did get another set of TPMS sensors also and installed some Michelin X-Ice tires on the OEM's on all four wheels. I think the car handles as close to a 4wd as a 2wd can. It does very well. And true snow tires, the ones with the snowflake and mountain logo are the only way to go, especially with sudden lane changes and quick stops. The front end doesn't plow off in some direction, it goes where you point it. With two complete sets of mounted wheels I can change them myself whenever I want. After the changeout I do take them to the dealer to have the TPMS codes entered into the computer. I have a record of the different codes and they just enter them on their laptop and it's done...10 minute job. Through the excercise of trying to find the Teleios summer wheels, I wound up with an extra set of mint condition OEM takeoff wheels, set of four.(The Teleios chrome wheels are nice but a constant, weekly, hassle of cleaning the brake dust off of them) Anyway, these other OEM wheels are for sale, they are the standard '07 - '10 OEM's with the 5 x 120 bolt pattern and center caps, no TPMS. I want $500, for the set of four, + shipping. They're boxed and weigh 27# each from 80401. Whit Whit, I am still vacillating over the Teleios chrome wheels. I haven’t actually seen them yet but I have heard they are more of a greyish colour compared to shiny bright chrome wheels. I don’t much like the prospect of scrubbing the wheels clean on a weekly basis. Wouldn’t the brake shoe dust also be an issue for the OEM aluminium wheels. Did you consider other chromed wheels before you got your Teleios ones. I would be interested in your opinion. At a minimum I would get two sets of OEM aluminium wheels, one for winter and the other for summer. Mike
