mdrakeks Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 i have a 99 lexus es300 and have just noticed lately a shimy in the steering wheel when braking down between 40 and 30 mph. There is no shimy above or below that range..and only when you apply lightly on the brakes...no shimy if you do a firm application. Dont know if i need to think of a brake job or not.. Anyone had this situation or can offer some insight?
steviej Posted May 18, 2004 Posted May 18, 2004 one or several brake rotors may be slightly warped. Take it to a good brake shop and have them check your rotors for "run out". Find out if they are within specs. If they are, find out if they are "turnable". What I mean is, find out if there is enough thickness to the rotor to have the shop remove a slight amount of the surface to make them true again. If there is not enough thickness to remove, then consider replacing your rotors. steviej
