Is there a way to make it sound better? Am I missing something? Absolutely gorgeous car, but the stereo is mediocre compared to the 2000 RX300 I just upgraded from. I played around with the audio settings and still.. it just sounds flat, not as crystal clear as the incredible sound I had in the older model. I stream via an aux cord from my phone that goes into the cassette player, which is what I did with the 300.

Your speakers are now more than 16 years old. Could it be that some are exhibiting degraded sound? 
You may want to call the folks at Crutchfield to see what they recommend. 
After enjoying beautiful chimes by a magnificent Gazo grandfather clock for many years, my Dad started complaining the the sound quality was getting worse. The real problem was his hearing, not the clock. Stereo sound used to sound better to me until I attended too many concerts.🙂
