Apple CarPlay for 2011 LS460?

My 2011 LS460 will not work properly with SIRI.  When I say "Siri call John Doe"  my radio says calling John Doe, the disconnects.  Is this a problem or did the 2011 not do this?  If not, I have an opportunity to buy an Apple CarPlay adapter for it but it's very expensive.  Total $850 installed.  Any ideas or thoughts on this?
