The quickest way is to go to an Autozone. They will read the codes and then clear them for free.

I think it depends on where you live. Some auto parts store will not clear the code for you. 

You can get a cheap ODBII reader for $20 and you can check the code and erase them whenever you want.

It'll come handy for many years.
