veritas Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 I've got a bunch of questions. 1. What the widest wheel you can fit on a 98 ES300? 2. Can you have staggered setup on a front wheel drive car? 3. The wheels I'm looking at are 18X8.5 with a 38mm offset, will these fit? Thanks in adavance.
SKperformance Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 225 is optimal 235 might fit for tire width. 38 mm is too low you need around 42-43mm for offset 8.5 is way to wide 7.5-8 is best the rim mentioned above would work perfectly for a GS model but not an ES you can go bigger but not without modifications or rubbing.
HoeBag Posted May 4, 2004 Posted May 4, 2004 18x8.5 fits perfectly, dunno bout that offset though i personally have 19x8.5/19x9.5 staggered setup
SKperformance Posted May 4, 2004 Posted May 4, 2004 Don't forget to mention you can't have rear passengers either or else it will rub.
veritas Posted May 4, 2004 Author Posted May 4, 2004 Thanks guys. I think I'm gonna go with 18 X 8 with at least a 40mm offset. Probably some Lowenhart BR5 look-a-likes. At least until I can afford the real ones. Am I going to need hubcentric rings and/or camber kit?

SKperformance Posted May 5, 2004 Posted May 5, 2004 camber kits are only for lowered cars. center hubs depend on which wheel you buy for there universal wheel hub design to meet the oem hub.
tjhamilt Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Relating to this issue..... I got some 18" rims off of the '07 IS and I'm looking to put them onto my '03 ES300. The mechanic said that at 8" wide in front everything is fine but for the 8.5" width in back I'm going to need spacers to make it work. :( Front: 225/40/18 Rear: 245/40/18 Can someone tell me what I need for spacers? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer! Can't wait to (hopefully!) get these babies on!
