oldoutboardjim Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I need a new daily driver, and am considering an IS, probably a 2008-2013. Some questions: I think I prefer the simplicity of RWD. Does the RWD IS have limited slip? I would like a manual transmission, but the auto is okay. From what I read, the IS 250 is somewhat underpowered, while the IS 350 has plenty of power, but doesn't handle as well as the IS 250. Thoughts re: these issues? Do both the 250 & 350 come standard with HID Xenon headlights? Any trim packages that are worth holding out for? Any maintenance/reliability issues I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance!
1990LS400 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I think your questions about standard equipment, options and packages for the 2010-up IS are addressed by the brochures in the L-Certified section of the Lexus website: http://www.lexus.com/lcertified/models Traction Control and halogen headlights are standard. As you can see in the brochure, performance (acceleration) figures for the IS250 are similar to those of the 92 LS400.
oldoutboardjim Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks for the advice. It is much appreciated. Today I had a chance to drive three IS's: 2007 IS 250 AWD. Nice car, but not enough pep for my liking. 2006 IS 350. Great car! Not quite as nimble as the 250, but the added HP makes up for it. 2008 IS F. Incredible car! By the way, the IS F had the Mark Levinson sound system, which is absolutely astounding!
