  1. Thanks for the advice. It is much appreciated. Today I had a chance to drive three IS's: 2007 IS 250 AWD. Nice car, but not enough pep for my liking. 2006 IS 350. Great car! Not quite as nimble as the 250, but the added HP makes up for it. 2008 IS F. Incredible car! By the way, the IS F had the Mark Levinson sound system, which is absolutely astounding!
  2. I need a new daily driver, and am considering an IS, probably a 2008-2013. Some questions: I think I prefer the simplicity of RWD. Does the RWD IS have limited slip? I would like a manual transmission, but the auto is okay. From what I read, the IS 250 is somewhat underpowered, while the IS 350 has plenty of power, but doesn't handle as well as the IS 250. Thoughts re: these issues? Do both the 250 & 350 come standard with HID Xenon headlights? Any trim packages that are worth holding out for? Any maintenance/reliability issues I need to be aware of? Thanks in advance!
  3. My son discovered that, if you put in the tape, then change to a different function (radio), then back again to tape - the tape will work.
  4. I use the tape player to connect to the iPod & Walkman via a tape interface head/cable. It has worked great, but recently became intermittent. I tried a cassette tape (a good quality tape left over from days of yore), and it refuses to play also. Here's what happens: 1) Tape (or interface) loading or unloading function works as it should. 2) Tape drops down into position, and you can hear the unit try to play the tape (a bit noisier than usual). 3) After a few seconds (and no sound), the tape ejects. Help!!! I need my music back. PS I plan to sell the Lexus this September, so I don't want to put a bunch of money into it.
  5. Where can I purchase these two replacement lamps? I would prefer to buy them both from the same source (to save on shipping cost). Thanks in advance: - Interior Dome Light: 3022 (31mm Festoon) - Fog Lights: H3C
  6. I found the answer. It appears that there is a gear that is mounted onto (screwed onto) the horizontally-mounted adjustment screw (horizontal adjustment gearbow shown): This gear was basically seized. A little cleanup and some plastic-friendly grease made everything good again.
  7. I attempted to adjust the vertical adjustment on my 1992 LS400 by turning the appropriate Phillips-head screw. Unfortunately, there is a physics-related mystery that I cannot understand. Here goes: When you turn the vertical adjusting screw, the gearbox turns the horizontally-mounted adjustment screw. When this horizontally-mounted adjustment screw turns, it pushes the bottom of the headlight to change the vertical alignment. Okay, all good so far. But the bottom screw has a tab on the head that prevents it from turning! How can you adjust the headlight if this screw is not designed to turn?????
  8. I just bought a wonderful 1992 LS400 with 146,000 careful miles. It is a beautiful car. One issue I have is that the previous owner did not have the remotes. Some questions: 1) If I buy a replacement, is it easy to program it to the car? 2) What is the best source for a couple of replacement remotes? Thanks in advance!
