Vegan Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Car was running fine on friday and on saturday morning started normally and ran for about 5 seconds and died. It turns over but won't start. No codes. Never overheated. new timing belt, water and oil pump, wires, plugs, crankshaft pos sensor, coils, maf, etc. no smoke out of exhaust. I can hear the fuel pump come on. Checked a bunch of fuses. Shop says drivers side of engine has low compression
Exhaustgases Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Its a deal where you determine if you have fuel pressure and spark. Since you hear the fuel pump maybe you have fuel pressure, next check for spark. Just because something is new it doesn't mean it is good. Or even a wire or connector could have come off, something like the Crank sensor. It sounds like there is no signal from a cam or crank sensor, so the ecu will not fire the ignitors or the injectors that is my guess.
billydpowell Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 sounds like it should be fuel related, I dont know which ones are related, maybe some one knows.. sorry I cant remember..
chc0318 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Have you tried to read Diagnostic Trouble Codes ? http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html

Vegan Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 They said they think the engine rings are bad.
billydpowell Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 have them run a compression test on ALL 8 cylinders.... your timing belt might have slipped me? I would have to know...
Exhaustgases Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Did it do it after the new timing belt? The shop maybe setting you up, time to get a second opinion from someone else.
