Starting Problem

I have a 99 gs300 that I drove to work and back perfectly fine but later in the night it wouldn't want to turn on. All of the lights turned on but all I could hear was a whirring. I'm not sure if the theft system turned on because the key is somewhat taped together and the chip might be bad

I recently purchased my first Lexus , a 2008 Lexus IS 250 (AWD) with 82000 miles. I was wondering if you guys have had any major issues with these cars at this mileage , looking to have car for next 5 years at least ( I do 10-12k miles annually) Had it inspected by my mechanic and only issues was rear axle leaking and battery. Both were replaced, I changed air and cabin filters along with new premium rotors and brakes ( front and rear).
