Changing A Valve Cover Gasket On 94 Es

Recommended Posts

I have a 94 ES300, which I absolutely love, by the way.... and lately, I smell oil burning and I see evidence of oil seepage around the valve cover gasket area...and am convinced that I need a new valve cover gasket to remedy the issue. Has anyone ever tried it on their own? Anyone recommend me doing it myself? Is it brain surgery? Dealer wants $470 to do the job :(

Thanks. I'm a first timer to the forum.

its a common problem with this engine unfortunately.

this would be a relatively painless process except for the back valve cover. they are impossible to get to unless you pull the intake off completely.

sometimes having a straight 6 has advantages i guess...

you might want to check a toyota dealer instead of a lexus one. they will most likely be cheaper.
