Hi there guys and gals, 2001 RX300 & 2000 Toyota Harrier + G Pack in the stable very few parts available in the UK

Thought I'd say Hi and how informative the forum is, you seem to have a greater availability of both information and parts across the pond.

I own two older RX's (OK one technically isn't an RX) but I've been searching for parts in the UK and only "specialist vehicle dismantlers" seem to have any parts that I need and they add such a premium that it really isn't worth going down the secondhand market most of the time.

The RX has 157000 on the clock and I bought it for a song with the MIL light lit, but now I've got a "proper" lexxy I feel I can join the club, (seemed a bit of a fraud with only a Toyota)

The Harrier was a direct import from Japan and had done <50000 KM when I got it 4 years ago, now has 140,000 and has only ever needed pads, shoes and a handbrake cable.

I suppose I'd better explain that I don't run new cars although I've had a few, having a modicum of mechanical skills and a reasonable amount of workshop space I can handle most jobs.

So now lexxy's are in my price bracket and I've bought one with a "few problems" I hope you don't mind me giving you an ear bashing to get to the bottom of a few issues.

Just got a ODB scanner on order so I'll let you know how we get along with the MIL light problem although I suspect a valve stem oil seal. (Tiny whisper of smoke and no loss of compression oiled up plug on 2)

Well that's about it for now - until the scanner arrives I'll leave well alone!
