B.Crosbie
Hi Guys, Do Denso LS400 keys have to be reprogrammed after the battery has been replaced in them. The key in question starts the car but does not lock/unlock the doors or open the trunk. If they do have to be reprogrammed is there some sort of button pressing sequence that will do it or does the car have to be brought to a dealer. B.Crosbie
Forgot to say the central locking works if it is used from the drivers door and the red light flashes on the key when the buttons are pressed. Regards, Brandon
billydpowell
I am assuming it worked before/in the past, before you replaced the battery... I cant answer your question, but here is the instructions: (I copied this for you) Remote Programming (Tami's procedure in JohnMD's post):1. Close and lock all doors. Unlock and open driver's door.2. Put original key into ignition and remove TWO TIMES. (The driver'sdoor is open during this step)3. Close and open the driver's door TWO TIMES. (Close, open, closeand open....the door is open at the end of this step)4. Put original key into the ignition and remove.5. Close and open the drivers door two times. (Close, open, close andopen....the driver's door is open at the end of this step)6. Put NEW key into the ignition. Close the driver's door.7. Turn ignition ON then OFF ONE TIME- this will put the car in ADD mode foryour remote. (Turning the ignition ON then OFF TWO TIMES will ADD the remotebut will erase all existing remotes.) (I turn the new key ON and then OFFonly ONCE as I want to add the new remote and the key. This step is confusingand is probably the source of my issue)8. Remove the key from the ignition. The door locks will cycle one time (or twoif you are erasing) . On the REMOTE press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCKbutton for 2 seconds. On the REMOTE press the LOCK button for one second.AT THIS POINT, the locks should cycle by themselves ONE time. This means theprocedure was accepted. IF the locks cycle twice it has failed. IF this happensyou must start over. Hold the remotes higher up for better reception9. Open and close the drivers door. Put new key in ignition and pullout. This will end programming. hope this helps, but it is free either way.
B.Crosbie
Thanks for the reply billydpowell. Turns out the little electronic gizmo inside the key for one car got swapped with the one from another car we have It all works now except for the drivers door which we think is just a wiring or solenoid problem.
