Belaflek
I read earlier to only use Toyota Type IV Tranny fluid...is the only place to get that at a dealership? 3.75 per quart at the dealer. and my manual says Type II or equiv. Im assuming type IV is just fine then
jimbostar
I've never seen it sold anywhere else, but there's another posted discussion about this topic in detail - try doing a search under 'transmissions'. I just had a flush done with Type T - IV, no problems. As with you, mine called for Type T - II, I think - IV is just the latest version of the right stuff. ayan
i posted this reply somewhere else as well, but thought i'd post it here as well.... any of you have an opinion of using Amsoil synthetic ATF instead of Toyota T-IV? Thanks.
silvermate
this topic has been discused in depth many many times. do a search and read up. i'm positive you will find answers to all of your questions.
monarch
my manual says Type II or equiv. Type T-II isn't made anymore. But Toyota came out with Type T-IV which is backward compatible with Type T-II . Any Toyota dealer can get you 1 quart bottles of Type T-IV http://www.saber.net/~monarch/typet.jpg Use Toyota Type T-IV for peace of mind. If peace of mind is too boring for you then you can experiment with more exciting and risky fluids like Amsoil and Valvoline
jbarhorst2
$3.75 for Type T-IV fluid. That's a good price. My local dealer which is generally very good on pricing is $7.50 per quart.
