Front Control Arm, Cracked Bushings

So, once again, I had to lay out big money to maintain my lexus rx 330. 2005 lexus rx 330, 125000 miles, and the mechanic told me that the front control arm has cracked bushings. Because of the poor design, the engine has to be lifted for access to the control arms. The labor is big money and the total job price is greater than 2200(most of it is labor). Did anyone have cracked bushings on their control arms? How long are control arms supposed to last? Thanks ahead of time for sharing!

My mechanic/toyota shop today told me that

My right lower arm is "staring to tear" I don't know what that means and I didn't get a chance to discuss it with him because he's left when I went to pick up my car. The "estimated" cost which usually is more is very scary :(. Please let us/me know how yours went if you do decide to have it replaced.
