Eric_Tovar Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 My 1991 LS 400 with about 265,000 miles has recently been acting funny. I have lost brake pressure while having 75% or better of the brake pads in the front. I feel like the pedal is almost going to the floor and I am getting very little stopping power compared to how sensitive and powerful the brakes used to be. What could be the cause? Any and all help is very much appreciated. Note: I have also added brake fluid once during this time period because it was low.
curiousB Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Sounds like some air got into the lines when the reservoir was low. Try bleeding the brakes and see if it goes away.
steve2006 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 If you have had to top up the brake fluid more than normally (due to pad wear takeup) check for any leaks or bulging brake hoses when under pressure first, does the brake pedal travel get less if you pump the pedal?
