I have a mysterious water leak at times in my 1994 SC400 on the left rear trunk well. In my looking around I found no water leak when doing a test with the water hose, but I did find this: see attached pic. It has what looks like a drain hose that goes into it. It is also a one way diaphragm unit - it only opens to the inside.

I still have not found the "why" my left rear trunk well will fill with water. I am still looking around at possible sources.

So does anyone know what purpose this box serves?

Chas

It appears to be part of the car's ventilation system.

I was kinda thinking it might be, but was not certain.

Thank you.

I also had water in the trunk of my 1992 Lexus SC400. The hose had disconnected from the tube that’s connected to hole inside the gasoline compartment.
