wfan88 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 LS430 / 2005 has been running well, yet cannot start up this morning without any warning sign, only hear the click sound, all the dash board lights are on, signal lights and emergency light are working, driver side window is not functioning yet all the passenger side window works fine, cannot adjust steering wheel position, cannot horn or turn on head light; I did jump start, but still cannot start the engine, so it is not the battery problem, feels there are something wrong with the electrical system, any suggestion? Thanks in advance. Jeff
wfan88 Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 I am also trying check fuse box, where is it located? how to change it?
steve2006 Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Hi, Could be a fuse or a circuit breaker, on the LS400 there is an engine compartment fuse box and another behind the drivers footwell kick panel,do you not have an owners manual as all the details should be in there.
curiousB Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 What do you mean click sound? Do you mean the starter engages but just doesn't turn over the engine? Or is it the fast clicking sound that comes with a dead battery where it is rapid back to back clicks? Do any lights dim when you engage starter or does starter never engage. If it is just starter won't turn over engine then I'd check electrical connections at battery and other end of the heavy wires (red goes to starter motor, black goes to frame ground) looking for loose connections and/or corrosion. If the starter isn't even engaging maybe you've tripped the anti theft system. Id' just disconnect negative battery terminal for 10 minutes then reconnect and try again.
wfan88 Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 Thanks for your advice, I did try according your suggestion, no success so far. Check fuses, all look fine, the starter doesn't turn over engine and there is no more the click sound. Still trying ...
wfan88 Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 one more thing, the dash board lights dim when I try to turn on engine
curiousB Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 OK then its a dead battery and possibly loose connections. Get a charger on the battery for a couple hours and retry.
wfan88 Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 You are absolutely correct! I just replaced the battery, problem solved, thanks a lot.
