PlanGK Posted July 2, 2010 Posted July 2, 2010 Could a heavily clogged catalytic converter make it hard to start up a car. That has happened to me before but I'm still trying to diagnose the problem. I did notice the car was louder and a lot hotter under the hood almost too hot to touch the hood.
gbhrps Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Absolutely! If its clogged the exhaust gases can't get out of the engine causing overheating, hard starting, poor performance, excessive noise, etc.etc. Your best bet might be to install a universal converter. Much cheaper than the original.
