2003 Gs 430 - Noisy Top End

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My 2003 GS 430 produces a ticking noise while running. I originally thought it was the fuel injectors but after many cycles of BG44K and Seafoam, the problem was still there. I purchased the car with 55k and it now has 63k on the odometer. I have changed the oil four times in 5 months using synthetic oil everytime. The car was even treated with BG quick clean in hope that it would dislove any type of build up on the lifters and or valves that could be contributing to the problem, but no luck. There were very little service records provided when the the car was purchased. I was wonder if this could tun out to be a serious problem or is it excessive valve lash? What can I do? What should I do?

With only 63K, I doubt you have any buildup on the valves or the injectors. Nor do I think you'd need a valve adjustment. Do you have any record of the oil changes? Has this ticking only recently started or has it been there from day one. It's normal to hear some ticking. If you're not sure whether your's is normal, go to a dealer and compare to one of their demos or get a tech to lend an ear.
