xsohaib Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Hi guys, I have been having this problem with ES300 (1992), the speedometer needle jumps around (actual speed +/- 5mph) when I am at speeds less than 80mph after that it becomes stables. Some people say it is the instrument cluster itself, others say it is the cable and still others say it is the speed sensor. HOwever, I would like to know exactly what it is, any ideas? Thanks Sohaib 92 ES300 Lowered 1.8", 17" IS300 rims
SKperformance Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 more than likely a speed sensor in the tranny the cluster is unlikely unless you are getting other malfunctioning gauges and give the person a kick in the !Removed! for saying it is a cable as there is none
xsohaib Posted January 29, 2004 Author Posted January 29, 2004 No other gauges are malfunctioning. The toyota dealer said that it was the cluster itself that was bad and wouldn't even listen to me if I said the word "speed sensor". Is it too hard to replace? How much should I be charged for a job like this? Thanks Sohaib
SKperformance Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 not much but you were at the dealer how much did they say if the cel light doesn't come on it could be either of the 2
