Hi guys,

I have been having this problem with ES300 (1992), the speedometer needle jumps around (actual speed +/- 5mph) when I am at speeds less than 80mph after that it becomes stables. Some people say it is the instrument cluster itself, others say it is the cable and still others say it is the speed sensor. HOwever, I would like to know exactly what it is, any ideas?

Thanks

more than likely a speed sensor in the tranny

the cluster is unlikely unless you are getting other malfunctioning gauges

and give the person a kick in the !Removed! for saying it is a cable as there is none

No other gauges are malfunctioning. The toyota dealer said that it was the cluster itself that was bad and wouldn't even listen to me if I said the word "speed sensor". Is it too hard to replace? How much should I be charged for a job like this?

Thanks
