wlane272
I am trying to install the USA Spec PA15-TOY ipod adapter in my 1999 ES300 with the Premium Sound System. I have everything hooked up and ready to go, but the stereo won't recognize the adapter. You are supposed to just hit the "CD" button for it to work, but for some reason it isn't. Has anyone else installed one of these? My car isn't listed on USA Spec's installation sheet, but Crutchfield assures me it should work, and they have never been wrong yet. There are four DIP switches on the side, 1 is to turn on the RCA inputs and has no affect on the working of the rest of the adapter, but 2, 3, 4 switches do. I have tried it with 2 on, 3 on, 4 on, and 2 on, 3 off, 4 on. I can try all the other combinations I guess, but these are the only two configurations for the Lexus cars anyway. Thanks a lot. kevinwang
From my recollection, you got the wrong model. PA15-TOY is for 02-09 ES'. I have no idea why Crutchfield told you it would work.
1990LS400
I distinctly remember this issue being discussed on this forum a number of years back since we have a similar Soundgate adapter plugged into the 12-pin CD port of our 1998 Toyota Camry radio. It was found that, even though the 12-pin CD ports on the ES radio and Camry radio appear to be the same, they do not work the same. I don't remember anyone getting the Toyota adapter to work in an ES. As kevinwang said, the 02-up ES is a different matter.
