Lexus Is 350 Front Tire Replacement Question

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! first off, i just every1 to know i dont know anything about tires. I have a 2006 lexus is 350 which have the standard Bridgestone Potenza RE050 summer tires on them. They are staggered and the size of the front tires are 225/40r-18 and the size of the rears are 255/40R-18.

My front tires are completely worn out and my back tires still have a lot of life in them. (i had 1 replaced due to a flat--which now has 90% thread left--and the other one still has over 60% thread left).

Anyway my question is that if i replace only the front tires with non bridgestone tires (let's say with the Nitto Invo summer tires) and leave the original bridgestone tires on the back on, will this cause any problems with my car's performance or will it cause any type of damage to the car. I'm not sure if it is necessary to have the same type of tires all around, but i don't wanna replace the back ones just so i can have Nitto tires all around. I really like the Potanzas, but the thread life on these is horrible. From what i hear the Nittos are better, cheaper, quieter, and have better thread life.

Plz some1 let me know, cause i need to get the front two tires replaced ASAP. Thanks!

Also, 1 of my friends said i should go a little wider for the front 2 tires so i can get more grip, but im not sure. Will they even fit the rim?

oh and srry for the grammar errors. :)

No it's not going to hurt anything to have different kinds of tires all the way around. But i'm anal about my car and I wouldn't be able to stand it unless they all matched and were the same tire. But honestly your car will be ok!!
